View Full Version : [ESPN]Raptors willing to give up Bosh to whoever takes Hedo's Contract

If the Raptors and Bosh reach the expected conclusion that it’s time for an amicable divorce, Houston has amassed an enticing cache of sign-and-trade assets. One source, offering one small example, says that the Raptors are intrigued by young forward Jordan Hill, whom the Rockets extracted from the Knicks in the Tracy McGrady three-way deal in February.

As a (reasonably) big-market team -- with low-key cornerstones like Martin and Aaron Brooks, and a franchise player in Yao Ming who might not be a franchise player any more after being forced to sit out an entire season -- Houston can also offer the stage and go-to guy spotlight Bosh covets.

Yet it’s believed that the Raptors, if Bosh indeed proves willing to join the Rockets via sign-and-trade, will try to foist Hedo Turkoglu on Houston as part of the deal. Would the Rockets be willing to take on Turkoglu’s contract ($43.8 million over the next four years) and surrender, say, Trevor Ariza in return to clinch Bosh’s arrival? The cost of adding Bosh along with Turkoglu would likely be prohibitive for the Rockets, but Toronto certainly figures to try.

Bosh ends up in New York or Miami.

lol Bosh isn't under contract. Sure taking Hedo might help, but Bosh will have final say. Toronto doesn't have a whole lot a leverage when their guy is an unrestricted free agent.

I can see Wade going to NYC and Bosh going to Miami.

If Bosh goes to Miami, you can bet your bottom bitch that Wade will stay put. That would be idiotic if he didn't.

Thats why it says via sign and trade.

Houston is a better landing spot for him than NY, and as long as TOR isn't trying to send him to Siberia, he should take any good trade. It's in his interest to do so. He gets an extra year and higher raises if he gets S&Td.

Yeah, that's understood. My point is that Bosh can choose to walk away, thus leaving the Raptors with nothing. Bosh has the most leverage. Beggers can't be choosers.

I don't see Bosh going in via trade. He will not be in Toronto next season though.

NY has cap room for 2 max contracts. If Wade goes to NYC, Bosh could just join him there. Or Bosh could join Wade in Miami because the Heat will have cap room to offer a max deal. Or Bosh could join Lebron in New York.

Basically, it's not going to suck to be Chris Bosh this offseason.

It's all good, and it's not completely unlikely that the team which acquires Bosh will absorb Hedo's contract. Toronto doesn't exactly hold all the cards though.

If Bosh leaves Toronto, you can guaran damn tee that it will be through S&T. That is almost certain.

But Bosh is likely to just opt out and sign somewhere else. I don't think him doing a sign and trade or not opting out is likely.

Bosh will leave through S&T. Bet on it. He'd be giving up 30 million dollars if he didn't. Colangelo has come out and said that Bosh and the Organization have agreed to work together.

Thats silly, Bosh picks where he wants to go not Toronto. Now if its an over the cap team, they might accept Turk relief instead of regular assets. ESPN is so far behind the real world its embarrassing.

I'd agree, but there's a high probability that all the raptors would be able to get would be a 2nd round draft pick and a fat trade exception, ala the Rashard Lewis S&T to Orlando.

I'd agree if he were to go to a team under the cap like Miami or NY, but if a team without the space like Houston or Dallas were to make a run at him, they'd have to match the salaries, making it worthwhile for the Raptors.

lol Toronto is gonna end up demanding too much and lose bosh for nothing. Good luck getting 1/3 of his value back through free agency
