Wonder what team he'll end up with?
Lets just be honest...this is too much heartbreak to endure in one city. I honestly feel sorry for the dude. Great guy, great player, humiliating/crushing defeat after defeat after defeat. I'd like to see him win an NBA championship one day.
Maybe as a Laker. :toast

Usually I'd agree. But even Dirk himself admitted the window is slowly closing. Maybe he would take less money for a better chance at a title.

nobody in their right mind would walk away from 21 million
This is his last chance to get a huge contract. Next year's lockout is likely going to kill salaries if the NBAPA's incompetence in past negotiations holds true. I don't think he'll leave Dallas, but he'd be crazy to not opt out and get a nice long deal grandfathered in when the new CBA goes into effect.

he will take the money. if he truly wants to win he would take the MLE. but 21 million even if it means never winning a title? i think he goes for the money

How about Dirk and Wade in Miami? That'd be ridiculous.

Chicago or Miami would offer something approaching that, except guaranteed 3 years. Could you imagine the Bulls with him? Holy shit.
Dallas would of course match.

he might pull a karl malone and leave for greener pastures when hes washed up and done. not yet, but id love to see him lose to a fundamentally sound team in the finals with all the talent in the world on his side
