...was beating us in 2006. I guess they thought that was "it". Nothing has gone right for them since then. They've gone out in the first round 3 out of 4 years, the lone exception being against a Manu-less, one legged Tim Duncan Spurs team last year. They were promptly slaughtered in the next round.

When I found out about the Mavs playoff road record after game 3 I was completely beside myself.

It's incredible. They really did reach an apex after the first two games of the finals in 2006. What a tragic story. :lmao

After tonight they are 2-16 in Road Playoff Games since the 2006 post season.

And those two road wins? Against us last year in the first round :lmao

And they had the best road record in the regular season, IIRC...

They need real role players. Too many would be stars. But that's Cuban's approach.

Yep. The big knock on them going into last playoff season was they have not won on the road. And then they get waxed when they face their first healthy team.

Then this year they completely dominate the road.

Guys when it comes down to it this year we were simply the better team. George Hill is a perfect foil for both Kidd and Terry.

Jason Terry was a HUGE reason for the Mavs road success and he was a big joke this series because (like last season when we played him) Hill shut him the fuck down when he was in.

I always thought their big mistake was not going after Shaq in the summer of 2004. I always believed at the time, a combination of Finley, Terry, Daniels, Dampier + fillers OR Stackhouse, Howard, Daniels, Dampier + fillers would have been a better package than what the Lakers got from the Heat.

The Lakers never knew how the Gasol deal would end up happening, so either of those deals would have given them two starter-level swingmen (one young and one a vet), plus a promising young player (at the time) in Daniels and a replacement big center with a big contract.

It would have left the Mavs with Shaq, Dirk, Finley, Terry, Harris OR Shaq, Dirk, Howard, Stackhouse, Harris. I think either of those starting five's wins at least one title, and I think Dirk becomes twice as dangerous playing the high post with a legit low-post threat like Shaq was back then. Plus, if I remember correctly, Shaq talked about even wanting to go there.
