Bad calls are part of the NBA...the officiating is atrocious in general. But it's easy to see why Cuban is always quick to use it as an excuse for failure. Prevents him from ever having to point the finger at himself.

:lmao He is such a tool.
Cut the guy some slack. He thought his team was actually going to win a championship this year. He blew a ton of cash to make it happen (way more than Holt). And then he told everyone that the Mavs will kill when they are zeroed in and that they have a great shot at winning a title. Then he lost in the first round.

8 first quarter points is not the ref's fault.

I think in light of the fact that the Mavs are the only team to lose 1 to 8 and 2 to 7 we should now refer to the Mavs as the Historical Mavericks.

Ridiculous. Calls were even. Hill obvioulsy got fouled on his baseline one hander. Several others just as obvious. Manu getting hammered in the lane. Thought the announcers did a good job of staying away from commenting even though replays showed the refs missed calls both ways. I think camera shots of Cuban's incredulousness stir up the mavs followers.
If any team has a right to bitch about bad calls changing a game, it's the Spurs with Fisher's .4 catch and shoot and the no call on Barry's shot.

The one foul I would give to the Mavs as an understandable gripe would be the one where, I think it was Butler, dunked it and ran into Hill on the way down. That was a bullshit call.

I have to disagree. Even though GHill did flop and sold it a bit, it was a shove from Butler, a punk move that was unnecessary. It is his damn fault if he got called for it.

I will say that in this series the refs let them play rough playoff basketball and I found it unusual. Ginobili, Hill, Blair, McDyess, and even Jefferson thrived during the physical play of this series but Dirk and his teammates got frustrated and lost their composure. They kept looking for ticky tack calls and for the refs to bail them out of loose ball scrums.
This series felt like it was reffed differently than many I've seen in recent years, but in a good way. It was intense!

If Najera doesn't throw those two flagrants earlier in the series, the bump to Hill is almost definitely not called a tech. Refs were just making sure this game didn't get out of hand.

The culture that Cuban creates in the Mavs organization is just counterproductive. I live in Dallas, and it is SOOOO funny listening to the excuses and complaints right now.
I waited 4 years for yesterday's result, and to see Markies face was priceless.
He gives his opposition no credit ever (that cursory "Congrats to the Spurs" rang very hollow). The cryptic comments the TS mentioned are so obviously aimed at the officiating and he just keeps doing it over and over when things don't go his way.
The facts are that Cuban cannot buy or bully his way to a championship and the window for success is closing now.
I don't know what SA will do the rest of the playoffs, but dispatching the team owned by MC is fantastic.

ESPNDallas had a whole breakdown of the discrepancy in the first and second quarters as to fouls called, FTs shot, etc.
Weak sauce. Dallas was settling for jumpers, while Spurs were taking it to the rack. Not surprising that they'd complain. Cuban sets the victim culture up in that organization, and it just trickles down to the rest of the franchise.

Hey moron, fans whine about officiating every single day. FANS whine. The OWNER of a damn team should carry himself with a little more class and fucking dignity. How many other pro sports team owners outside of Dallas act like spoiled 4 year old girls in public with things don't go their way? When was the last time you saw Peter Holt behave that way? Seriously, go find an example. It's ok, I'll wait.
Comparing fans to the owner of your beloved boys in blue is the weakest fucking argument I've seen from any of you douchebag Maverick fans yet.

George Hill did what Dirk does all the time ".....sell the call" as coach Pop would say.
G Hill has shown me that he is not only a talented player, but smart too. Reminds me of Robert Horry in that regard.
I did get mad when George went under the screen that gave Roddy B that easy look on his made 3 pointer.
The much worse call in the closeout game was when Dirk drew a foul when he ran headlong into his own teammate during the 3rd quarter run for the Mavies. The refs assumed contact was made by a Spurs player when it wasn't.

Did you hear any complaints from Peter Holt, D-Bag Mavies fan? No.
All you heard was a fairly moderate comment from Pop saying Dirk "..sells the call" with his body language when moderate contact is made. Pop also said some of his players played "...like dogs."
I've never heard a more wussified fan base and media base as I hear in Dallas regarding basketball. To many media members make excuses for the Mavericks and very few of them are willing to give Mark Cuban the crap that Jerry Jones gets on a daily basis. At least Jerry owned a team that actually won a championship.

he was kinda right though. apparently the whistles were seemingly too rusted to blow in the first quarter and early 2nd, which was definitely an avail for the more physical team that Spurs were. While the contacting level was raised so high, it seemed Dirk was the only exception and had collected 4 personal fouls by the 2nd quarter. Yes they were truthfully fouls Dirk did, but how did the refs manage to overlook the thousands of other contacts which were even more harsh yet ignored? Retarded refs ruined a game which could have been worth remembering...

I wish he'd stop running his mouth so often...and his ongoing complaint about refs is getting really old and stale...his team should focus on the things that they can control on the court and not even think about the refs...it's one of my favorite things about the Spurs/Pop...whether the criticisms are valid or not, indulging in them allows you to deflect responsibilities for your own play...and that gets in the way of improving...

I can see both sides, but it was called because Caron's forearm/elbow went up towards Hill's upper chest/throat area, Hill did exaggerate a little. It's similar to JJ's pick foul where he did the same movement. I think they were good calls, easily avoidable by Mavs.

because the officials are willing to let some contact go when it's in the post (and honestly, it's just harder to see in there) and when the defensive players are in good position. if this wasn't the case, erick dampier's career high for minutes played without fouling out would be 7.
dirk made the calls way too easy by being out of position, using his hands/arms, or committing his fouls out in open space.
