I never knew how this "wins produced" thing works out.

In 1999, there was a contest to produce the most meaningless/misleading basketball stat in the world. None of the registered contestants submitted their creations, because that was also the year that fantasy basketball leagues became popular, and no one wanted to give their rival owners an edge. Win% and Win Shares are now regularly used by fantasy owners and Mark Cuban.

In short... it doesn't work out.

For the record, Blair's Win Shares/48 was 0.147 this season. Ian Mahinmi's was 0.206, making Mahinmi roughly 50% more likely to produce a win than Blair. 'Nuff said.

The 6th Man award, or at least the expectations around it, are sort of simplistic. It's as if the voters assume the person has to be a scorer. It seems like they usually give it to scorers because "spark off the bench" gets equated to scoring. A defender or rebounder coming off the bench can have a big impacts as well. DPOY usually means steals or blocks, so I guess this is how things work.
