Just watched a ESPN Classic game of the Lakers/Portland Game 3 in 2002.

I cant believe we won a title with the starting 5 of:

Derek Fisher
Kobe Bryant
Rick Fox
Samaki Walker
Shaq

:lmao

Well Robert Horry closed most of the games at PF and Derek Fisher wasn't a scrub back then. Plus there's the fact Shaq in his prime is one of the best 5 players ever, his problem was that laziness stopped his prime from lasting longer.

yah at the end Kobe made a three followed by horry's 3 FTW. But that just amazes me...hard to believe we beat the Spurs in 5 that year.

That's how much better Shaq was compared to Kobe.

If the games are rigged then so were the Spurs championships as well.

Fisher
Bryant
Fox
Horry
Shaq

was a mean lineup to face in the final 8 minutes of a playoff game.

Pretty sure the Spurs were leading at 3/4 time in either all 5 games or 4/5.. But as I said above, beating that lineup in the 4th quarter was nigh on impossible.

Well they had two players that were pretty much unstoppable, who's abilities perfectly complimented each other. Too bad (for the Lakers) that their egos didnt, as they were the most unstoppable duo ever.

You'd of thought they wouldn't be surprised that they won with that team either.

All I care about is they lost in 2003. And 2004. And 2005.* And 2006. And 2007. And 2008.

*Missed Playoffs. :D

So, yeah, grats on 2002.

you do know Fisher in his prime was a very solid starting PG that even helped lead the Jazz to the WCF as a starter if Im not mistaken after he left LA? you do know Fox was a very solid defender, that despite the popular belief about how great of a defensive player Bryant was, Fox was the one always guarding the opposing team's best wing? you do know Horry finished games and during that time was one of the best two way players in the league? you do know Shaq during his prime was the fucking MDE right? you do know those lakers had arguably the best big man and arguably the best guard on the same team right?

not surprised though, typical bandwagon lakerfan...

Winning Game 4 was no picnic either/hang a left, fellows, take a ganders:

BIG BAD BOB

Ev'ry mornin' at the Staples you could see him arrive
He stood six foot ten and weighed two thirty five
Kinda narrow at the shoulder and narrow at the hip
And everybody knew ya didn't give no lip to Big Bob.
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

Everybody seemed to know where Bob called home
He’d just drifted into town and stayed all alone
He didn't say much, kinda quiet and shy
And if you spoke at all, you just said "Hi" to Big Bob.

Somebody said he came from the Phoenix deserts
Where he got in a fight over a former team mate
And a crashin' blow from a huge white towel
Sent a Texas fellow to LA LA Land-Big Bob
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

Then came the day at the bottom of the game
When a Daddy cracked and a Kobe started cryin'
Lakers were prayin' and hearts beat fast
And everybody thought that they'd breathed their last-'cept Bob

Through the dust and the smoke of this man-made hell
Walked a giant of a man that the Lakers knew well
Grabbed a caromed sphere, gave out with a groan
And like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone-Big Bob
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

And with all of his strength he gave a mighty shove
Then a Laker (I think it was D Fish) yelled out "There’s a light up above!"
And twelve Lakers scrambled from a would-be grave
Now there's only one left down there-his name CWEBB.

With Bibbys & Predrags they started back down
Then came that rumble way down in the ground
And then smoke and gas belched out of the Magoof Bros.
Everybody knew it was the end of the line for the Sacked Kings
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

Now they never rebuilt that worthless team
They just placed a marble stand in front of it
These few words are written on that stand
”Don’t leave Horry, Chris.”
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

[Fade]
(Big Bob, Big Bob) Big Bad Bob (Big Bob)

tee, hee.

That rosey cheeked fuck. And Samaki Walker! No matter how bad he fucked up he'd still trot down the other proud & tall, head held high. At least when Parker "smushed" us he rightfully hung his low to avoid the hateful looks from the Mamba.

What, do you want me to repudiate the outcome? Hell no. We got rinsed many times in the early '80 vs. Boston. I put up all sorts of protest and angst, and everybody just said: "tougheth lucketh, Cubby, laughing their ass off" leaving me effectively with my dick in my hand--cryin' like a motherfucker. I wised up, the Celtics went south and it was our turn to feed at the trough of dishonesty & guaranteed result.

And daddy-O, I ain't ever looked back.

Seriously, a Cavs fan talking smack?

Spurs won 4 Rings in 9 years, too, dipshit.

And how about sweeping the Lakers in '99?

It goes both ways, believe me.

The two most dominant players in the league, the best clutch shooter in NBA history in Horry, the definition of a glue-guy role player in Fox, a shooter in Fisher.

Shaq
Kobe
Horry

Thats a deadly 4th quarter lineup to deal with. Two guys who need to be doubled and dead-eye shooters on the wings. We only needed two plays in those days - Shaq post-up, Kobe iso. Run one of those every time down and it was good enough to beat anyone.

Giuseppe

Horry and that shot Vs. the Kings. I was already typing the obit (it'd a been 3-1/back up to Sacramento) at the old AZ Central site when the children started a maniacal uproar in the living room.

Matzel, Matzel, good things!

That victory goes right behind that '85 break thru in Boston.

I know, but, let's face it, they'd a not got that help if Horry had not hit that shot. We'd a been on our own from that point forward. Down 3-1, up in Sacramento. No way we seal the 3 peat.

I hate the Spurs and hope they become a lottery team but they didn't lose in the Finals in the 2000s. They have also won every Finals that they have played in. The Lakers went to the Finals 6 times in the 2000s. They went 4 for 6. I still think and hope that if the Lakers make the Finals that they get swept by the Cavs or Magic or even the Hawks. That would be fuckin hilarious to see the Lakers lose to the Hawks in the Finals.

Shaq was unstoppable during that run, hence why he won 3 Finals MVPs ;)
