Ever since the '06 Finals, every team that has beaten the Mavs in a playoff series has been through hard times; injuries, front office mistakes, locker room problems, etc...
A different kind of EA curse...
Discuss.

You're not the chosen brother, Eli. It was Paul who was chosen. You see, he found me and told me about your land. You're just a fool.

I disagree... OP onto something here. He's right: each team ended up a huge disappointment the following season and then even worse the season after that... and each was unexpected.
2006 Heat go from champs to first-round loss to 15 wins
2007 Warriors go from historic upset to missing POs to 20 wins
2008 Hornets go from team on the rise with perennial MVP candidate to first-round loss (including 121-63) to 37 wins
2009 Nuggets go from WCFs and apparent top challenger to Laker WC dominance to first-round loss
I shudder to think what terrible fate awaits the Spurs in 2011.

Spurs are not the Heat, Warriors, or Hornets. Nuggets just had bad luck losing their coach. The other teams weren't that great. They were just better than the Mavericks.

jeeze yall read to much into this.
I found a rock outside...the same size rock I found last game after a loss. The next day I had a "rock u" t-shirt on and lent it to my friend who asked to use it. He is a nuggets fan. Rock...nugget. His team lost... so next time i see a rock outside...etc etc
:rolleyes

Simple. The teams that eliminated the Mavs were one year flukes.
mavs are the only team to be a 1 seed and lose to 8, and a 2 seed and lose to 7.... ROFL

Also, ever team that beat the Mavs loses the next round... Then it gets worse. :(

Since 2003, except for last year, either the Spurs won it all, or the team that eliminated them made it all the way to the Finals, only to be utterly bitchslapped by the East.
2003 - Spurs win title
2004 - Lakers eliminate Spurs and get humiliated by the Pistons in the Finals
2005 - Spurs win title
2006 - Mavs eliminate Spurs and get backdoor swept by the Heat in the Finals
2007 - Spurs win title
2008 - Lakers eliminate Spurs and get curbstomped by the Celtics in the Finals
2009 - Mavs eliminate Spurs but lose to the Nuggets in the WCSF (the exception)
2010 - ???
How's that for a curse? :lol
