His stock plummeted after this playoffs. He had an incredibly bad PER of 9.9 while not contributing anything worth a damn on defense and really doesn't have any kind of intangible benefit. Hell he was even benched during the entire second half of Miami's most important game.

Wouldn't trade George Hill, a much later draft pick, for that #2 pick scrub. That guy's a headcase, has basically zero drive to be better, and hasn't shown that he's worth a #2 pick or passing up on a potential Amar'e deal:

Hate to throw the "bust" word around after two years, so let's flip this around. You're watching the playoffs right now. Pretty competitive, right? Other than scoring, you need to rebound, defend and play hard to advance. Beasley can't do any of those three things. Play an undersized power forward against him (like Glen Davis in Game 2) and he gets eaten up. Stick a small forward on him (like Paul Pierce) and he can't post that guy up. Stick a traditional power forward on him (like Kevin Garnett) and he can't beat that guy off the dribble or prevent the guy from scoring on the low post. So what's left? I don't see any conceivable scenario in which this guy has a meaningful NBA career. Could he put up stats on a bad team? Of course. Anything else, I'm not seeing it. All of Pat Riley's fidgeting during the 2008 draft now makes perfect sense.

If Dwyane Wade ends up leaving this summer, it's because of two reasons:

A. The teams that ended up with O.J. Mayo (3) Russell Westbrook (4), Kevin Love (5), Danilo Gallinari (6), Eric Gordon (7), Brook Lopez (10), Jerryd Bayless (11), Robin Lopez (15), Serge Ibaka (24), Nic Batum (25) and George Hill (26) wouldn't trade those guys for Beasley right now. That's a borderline catastrophe. They got the 13th-best guy in the draft at No. 2.

B. Riley didn't sell his Beasley stock in time. The window was February, when a panicking Suns team happily would have green-lighted Beasley (making $19.4 million from 2011-2013), Udonis Haslem's expiring deal and a protected 2010 No. 1 for Amar'e Stoudemire. If you're Miami, why not? Amar'e gets a taste of Miami for a few months; you get the chance to offer him a sixth year and more money; worst-case scenario, you have his sign-and-trade rights this summer; you can make a 2010 playoffs run with the Wade-Amar'e combo; and you potentially have a 2010-11 nucleus of Wade, Amar'e and Free Agent Star X.

If you're Wade, would you stick around and put your basketball prime in the hands of someone who just botched those two decisions? Or would you flip teams and opt for a safer situation? More on this later.

Michael Beasley is this generation's Stromile Swift. (coincidently both players were #2 ovrl picks) Gifted athlete that doesn't have a lick of sense or basketball IQ. Beasley isn't worth the air he breathes...I wouldn't give a hot turd for that guy.

I think he still could have a decent career as a scoring sixth man on a good team. He has a nice midrange jumper and can probably score at a decent clip against second unit back-up players.

I'd trade Jason Maxiell for him straight up.

Right? I think it works for both parties. Odom and Wade together again. They Lamar without sacrificing their cap, they can get another max player (Bosh, Amare, Boozer) and still have a lot of space for another solid starter.



Lakers get Haslem, a veteran willing to husle. Solid rebounder, good spot up shooting, great locker room guy and willing to bang. Bease is young, he's way better than any of the Lakers bench not named Odom. With the right system and way less pressure, he's good for at least 12 pts off the bench. With the triangle and if he play his cards right, he can actually replace Artest in a year or two.

Odom & Wade worked well together. Not a lot of 6'10 player as versatile as Lamar. Great locker room guy and hella cheap too.

Beasley is one of the most talented players in the NBA. He and Amare have enough attitude problems to make a coaches head explode, but I'd trade for him just because of the potential him as the longterm SF would offer.

If the price tag for him is that low it could be a steal. Beasley's not necessarily as dumb as Swift, he's just lazy as hell.

Beasly is a better offensive player than Odom and Artest, and Haslem is a better defender and just as good a rebounder as Odom.


Can't disagree with anything there. The one flaw with that trade is LA has a pretty small lineup when Bynum is injured.
