Myth. The better team will win regardless of if they've been 'challenged' or not. Most of the time, if they haven't been challenged its because they are that good. The 09 Cavs don't prove this to be false because they underachieved against legit teams all year, especially the Magic, who had their number before the playoffs even began.

Cleveland would not have beaten Orlando under any circumstances last season. They were dominated by the Magic all year and were dominated- yes, dominated- in the exact same fashion in the ECF. The match-ups just did not work, that was all there was to it.

The East may not have as many good teams as the west, but the east has more elites. Cleveland/Orlando (No I don't think Boston is elite) compared to just LA out west.

I disagree. I feel the superior team will win no matter the path they took. Now do they need to prevent themselves from getting overconfident? Yes, but if you are able to beat/blow out your opponents every game I can't see how that is a bad thing. The Cavs last year just ran into a superior team; I doubt any Cavs fan would chalk the series loss to not facing enough adversity.
