The old haggita in the article said she could have taken a gun and gone over and shot the neighbor's dog who killed her cat or take the owner to court.

$45K, plus the dog owner spent 21 days in jail.

Given those options, if I owned that dog I'd of brought over a gun to the cat-lady and told her to have fun. Bye-bye Spot, it was nice knowing you.

I didn't give away my last kitten to someone who wanted to immediately put her outside because I was afraid of that very thing happening. I'm not saying that all cats should be kept inside because of a few irresponsible dog owners, but small ones should. I've heard too many stories of kittens and smaller cats getting mauled by dogs to take the chance. The settlement is excessive I think, but I understand her reasoning for taking the guy to court - and I do think that as a whole Americans value dogs more than cats.

You can bet your ass I'd take someone to court if their dog took its teeth to one of my cats.
