We were in a similar spot against them a couple of years ago and that turned out pretty well, I just don't know if this Spurs team has it in them though. But still, as disgusted and ready for football season as I am right now I can't stop believing yet. :flag:

couple differences though

--Bonner/Blair combo didn't exist
--I don't remember the Spurs just beating themselves mentally
--I don't think the Hornets bench at any point was better than Tim/Tony/Manu all on the court at the same time

i remember how we were out of gas when we played the lakers b/c the hornets series went 7 games.

The problem with remembering the hornets is that the Spurs were gassed for the lakers. If you can take a game like tonight's you need to take it.

I agree. Dallas was the better team, but Phoenix has better matchups vs the spurs.

I believe. We had a gimpy Manu, a shortened bench, and no answer for the PnR (particularly on the road). The Hornets were the better team for much of the series but we found a way. Won't be easy, but nothing's impossible.

I won't be in panic mode unless we lose one at home in 3-4.

I Believe! Spurs will take this in 6!

Spurs in 6. Channing Frye and Dudley will not bring this game on the road.

Mason, Bonner and Hill weren't factors in that Hornets series...not a valid comparison.

Well if that's true, then the series is at least tied 2-2. The Spurs had control of the game, unfortunately the Suns were gambling and winning big time.

It's possible but

That Hornets team was led by losers like Chris Paul and David West.

Nash > Paul, Amare > West, J-Rich > Peja

We were still getting sliced up by the pnr and had no one that had Timmy's back in the front court (Fab + KT). Ime Udoka wasn't a gamebreaker either and Horry wasn't as effective as in years past having come off an injury.

LOL...Popovich just ripped a reporter in the press conference for trying to bring up "Remember the Hornets"...if only he could see this thread.

I would take Horry, Udoka and KT in a heartbeep over what we are calling a bench these days.

Well don't say that around Pop. He just about disembowled a reporter in the post-game for saying exactly that.

Hahahahah... Pop was just asked about this...

"What? Think about the Hornets 2 years ago?... lol... No, I won't think about that at all. These are grown men, they don't need me to say that. 'Remember the Hornets fellas, we gotta really pull it together for game 3!'... Maybe I'll talk about the Gipper"

Maybe if the reporter used the word "Believe" in his question, he might have been more cordial... :lol

I'll stick with Blair, Bogans, Hill/Tp.

so are you saying we will see jefferson guarding nash? nash choke and defer to goran dragic in the 4th quarter?

Could see Jefferson guarding Nash (on a switch), don't know about the rest though. I think the Spurs still have a shot especially with a healthierManu, but they have to play better down the stretcdh, that's for sure.

Yeah -we won that series against the Hornets, but it took everything out of our team and then they faced a well-rested Lakers team - which is exactly what is going to be waiting for us if we somehow manage to win against the Suns. Not quite the stuff dreams are made of.

This Suns team is much, much better than that Hornets team, not even close..Paul is the best player on both teams, but this Suns team is much better and deeper..

Different team, different time. Anyone trying to draw this parallel is an idiot. I'm not saying the Spurs 100% can't come back, but if they do, it has nothing to do with that series.

I knew that entire Hornets series that the Spurs were going to find a way to win it. This series, I said it was 50/50 coming in and I'm not the least bit surprised the Suns are up 2-0. I said Spurs in six, but I wasn't nearly as confident as I was when I picked Spurs in six over the Mavs. The Suns are eminently capable of winning this series in six, five if the Spurs run out of gas. Which is possible, seeing as how they have six reliable players, three of which are old and are playing every other day.

Unfortunately, if the Spurs lose one of the next two games, the Lakers once again get a bye into the finals. The Suns match-up terribly with them. Because they're on such a high, maybe they push them to seven, but there's no chance of them beating them. The Spurs at least have a puncher's chance, however unlikely it may be.

2008 Spurs were a much much much better defensive team. That said, I hope that the Spurs can hold their home court. I would like to see the city and Mr. Holt get as much as they can from this team before the summer.

However, If we lose, this team did better than i thought they could this playoffs so it is already a win for me as a fan.
