If he doesn't win it this year, it would be a shame.

Two Spur execs have...

Angelo Drossos in 1977-78
and Bob Bass in 1989-90

I almost think heat's gm has this locked up getting shaq
or if they want to the suns could get all the awards and the gm for the suns could get it

Every additional individual award the Suns receive just makes each one more ludicrous.

The whole League knows what R.C. has done, but keep in mind, he's been under Pop's protective wing for most of the time.

Of course not.

Im sure either Joe Dumars, Pat Riley, or Colangelo will win.

Gotta keep the "Fun" teams happy.

That's crazy! Everyone knows the reason Shaq chose Miami was due to the weather and the fact that it's the closest thing close to LA (lifestyle wise) that he'd be able to find. :)

Pop should have won GM of the year at least once.

Popovich should have won GM of the year in 99.

Either 99 or 2003.

But no, those years it went to Joe Dumars, and Geoff Petrie of the Kings.

I think its crazy that R.C. has never won the award. The spurs are by far the best in the NBA at scouting talent. The spurs managed to resign Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili for less than market value.

Buford is a puppet.

well then, his master is doing a hell of a job. Spurs are the only team to repeat into Round 2 from last year, and they've made it at least this far every year since 2000 and all but two years since 1995.

Actually, weren't the Pacers, Pistons, and Heat in the second round last year?? Also, can't remember if Dallas was or if they lose in the first round.

R. C. has only officially been the GM for 3 or 4 years now, right?

Solid D

Brian Colangelo may win this because he added Nash and Q as FAs before the season and then Outlaw, Jim Jackson, and Walter McCarty. Barbosa was a nice draft pick a couple of years ago.

Yes you are correct 1Parker1 those are the only three teams left in the playoffs this year who were in the second round of last years playoffs.

Robert Horry is a better GM then...he's made it to the second round of the playoffs every single year of his career.

Riley will get it. Like it's a big fucking challenge convincing a media whore like Shaq to move to South Beach.

No, he hasn't, although he has deserved it for some time now, especially this year.

RC deserves consideration, but they usually give it to teams that all of the sudden get better and make playoffs after not making playoffs the year before.

The Spurs are always good, so they get overlooked.

It's all a joke anyway.

We all know who is the GM who had the most impact this year.

Kobe.

For the record, I wrote too quickly and didn't finish my thought -- the Spurs are the only West team to repeat to Round 2. I thought I had written that, but upon re-reading saw that I didn't. My bad and those who caught it were right to call me on it.

I still think, given the finds of Parker, Ginobili, and even Udrih, guys who have gelled with Tim Duncan to push this team to continue to make solid playoff runs, this front office deserves some credit. It's not just about having a lone superstar. Teams with David Robinson alone didn't reach Round 2 on some occasions, even losing to inferior opponents in Round 1. The Spurs are lucky to have Duncan, but having one superstar isn't a guarantee that you'll compete for titles.
