Unbelievable. They didn't even tell him why he was arrested, as far as I can tell. This guy didn't resist arrest and was completely non-confrontational. They probably could have just sent two officers to his door and accomplished the same thing.

Tax dollars hard at work. :bang

--

"Whitworth was ultimately charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and second-degree child endangerment (he ultimately pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge for possessing drug paraphernalia and paid a $300 fine according to Missouri's Case.net -- all other charges were dropped). The drug charges were apparently related to the discovery of what news reports described as "a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana." The child endangerment charge seems to be the result of Whitworth daring to be at home with his wife and seven-year-old son when the storm troopers burst in and shot two family dogs -- killing a pit bull and injuring a corgi."

But now some have been reduced to shooting dogs in front of a family to get their kicks.

Do your homework on the guy. In 2005 he plead guilty to "participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana".

Someone on a different forum did some detective work on him.

is that why all they found is a pipe, grinder, and a small enough amount of weed to only be charged with a misdemeanor? sounds like the essentials for someone who just smokes weed.

i get it..i get it..once you've ever been arrested it's fair game to kick your door down, murder family pets, and let the bullets fly with little kids and wife around..you fucking tool you.

but you know, i hope you're right, i hope he is a big time drug dealer and has tons of money to hire an excellent attorney, and all of those cops get charged with negligence and child endangerment at the very least. or just send them over to my house and ill spray their asses with a mac 11 soon as they come through the door and just claim it was self defense because i live in a high crime area and thought i was being robbed.

ATLANTA — A police official said narcotics officers were justified in returning fire on a 92-year-old woman they shot to death after she shot them as they tried to serve a warrant at her house.

Neighbors and relatives said it was a case of mistaken identity. But police said the woman, identified as Kathryn Johnston, was the only resident in the house at the time and had lived there for about 17 years.

Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said the officers had a legal warrant and "knocked and announced" before they forced open the door. He said they were justified in shooting once they were fired upon.

As the plainclothes Atlanta police officers approached the house about 7 p.m., a woman inside started shooting, striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb, a police spokesman.

One was hit in the arm, another in a thigh and the third in a shoulder. The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment, and all three were conscious and alert, police said.

Sarah Dozier, identified as a niece of the woman, told WAGA-TV that there were never any drugs at the house.

"My aunt was in good health. I'm sure she panicked when they kicked that door down," Dozier said. "There was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog."

Rev. Markel Hutchins, a civil rights leader, said Johnston's family deserves an apology.

"Of the police brutality cases we've had, this is the most egregious because of the woman's age," Hutchins said.

Hutchins said he would try to meet with Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington and would also meet with lawyers.

It's a good thing the department had this videotaped, at least that's some transperency. What bothers me though is the reasons these search warrants are signed off and why the scouting for them is so shitty...any potential use of deadly force on a relatively stationary target in a small area needs to be thoroughly scouted. The cops wouldn't be so trigger happy if they knew better what to expect from the house/apartment they are raiding.

that has actually happened before. Well, not with a Mac. I remember reading about this back when it happened. She thought it was a home invasion or something.

What's really fucked up about the case you quoted is that the woman never shot any of them. Turns out the cops kicked her door in and killed her. When they realized what they had done, they shot one another to cover it up. They even tried to get a known drug dealer to admit to buying drugs from the house. He refused, saying that he wasn't going to have the murder of a 92 year old woman on his hands. He testified for the prosecution, and now those cops are in prison. The lesson I took from this is if anyone kicks my door in, kill first and ask questions later.

The other dog they shot looks like this:
http://cdn-www.dailypuppy.com/media/dogs/anonymous/Teddy_Welsh_Corgi_01.jpg_w450.jpg

The writeup with the video says the corgi was shot, but I think that's inaccurate. You see it run by at the back of the hall when the guy is on the ground in handcuffs, one of the cops says "Don't worry about the dog," and no more shots are fired from then on. Per the video, only the pitbull was shot.

Still inexcusable, though. There's absolutely nothing that justifies the amount of action taken.

EDIT: Corgi puppies are unbelievably adorable. That picture's killing me.

why is this always the argument? i mean, of course if something bad happens we all call the po-po to come to our rescue, it is what it is but it doesn't dispute the fact that most pigs are just that.

i was in a head on with a drunk driver a few yrs back... as i laid in and out of consciousness on the ground outside my car i could see this man over me who was pissed because the cops got to the scene 30 mins later and were about 50 ft away from me joking. never did they once come over to check on me until i was finally wheeled into the back of an ambulance. i just remember that big dude screaming obscenities at those pigs and telling me the whole time, "you're going to be alright man... stay awake!"

it's just one thing after another that makes me despise cops but i'm sure there's a few who deserve my utmost appreciation. i have yet to meet those few those.

Non issue. Hopefully this kind of stuff will never stop.
Time for America to take back her country.

And you Dim-wits in here who question everything about our legal system and it's flaws should go to Mexico where the law of the land is still "Guilty first, until proven innocent.

No legal system is perfect, has been perfect nor ever will be perfect. Ever. The ever part is not a hard concept to grasp.

Police Departments and officers put up with more crap than Joe-civilian ever will. Take the medicne and shut up you whining Liberals. :blah

Yeah you're real fucking cool. Of course, you can't relate to how this would affect a 5 year old because you're too busy acting like some badass.

Pigs are made to kill, and no regretting.
Keep your hand on your weapon, shoot his ass, and start steppin.
