Is it disrespectful for schools to fly the American flag on those days and Cinco de Mayo?

Just curious.Wearing an American flag repurposed as clothing is disrespectful at all times.

Flag reproductions printed on clothing pretty clearly fall into another category. I would assume this is what you are referring to. Even if wearing flag-themed clothes was deemed somehow offensive, that wouldn't be a compelling reason to prohibit it. JMO.

Is it disrespectful for schools to fly the American flag on those days and Cinco de Mayo? Has someone suggested this, besides you?

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

"No."

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

"No. Stop asking."

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

"I said stop asking or you're grounded."

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

"Fine, you're grounded"

"WHAT?? I was just asking Are we there yet? Why can't I ask Are we there yet? What's wrong with asking Are we there yet??"

I don't find American flag themed clothing offensive, just a bit tacky.

I can't figure out why anyone thought it WOULD be disrespectful, regardless of what day of the year it is.

I notice that a lot of people in S.A. have mini Mexican flags hanging from their rearview car mirrors. I don't think these are offensive in the least.

RLXI1utAJ1IThat wasn't the principal.

If you want to debate this with a high school girl, perhaps you should seek her out. I doubt she reads this board.

You should wear an Ernesto Guevara Lynch t-shirt on St. Patricks day. That'll keep 'em guessing ....

Most kids would probably think it was the Confederate flag.

I do somewhat find the Union Jack disrespectul due to the years of suffering the post 'Exile On Mainstreet' Rolling Stones music we have been forced to endure for the better part of four decades.

to answer the OP: no, it would not.

edit: IMO, it would not. "disrespect" is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm reminded of that scene from The People Vs. Larry Flynt, when Woody shows up to court wearing an american flag diaper.

"Well your honor I have fashioned this flag into a diaper. If you're gonna treat me like a baby I figure might as well act like one."
