All I write part-time now for Hoopsworld. No situation involving the Spurs, excepting perhaps, 0.4 has ever irratated me as much as Allen's overblown "whines" the last 36 hours s/p the game.

Should Allen be Fined-Taking a Whine to a New Level?
Let's get this straight Mr. Allen, you stated right after the game that Bowen caused your ankle strain, then when films showed that was not the direct case - you continue to imply that somehow his "tough" defense caused it?
This story got off to a bad start when a reporter, Tom Hughes (Tacoma News Tribune) stated: "As Allen elevated to get to the basket, Bowen slid to undercut Allen, throwing him sideways . . . When he landed, Allen tweaked his ankle, sprawling on the floor as he fell out of bounds."
A review of the films shows this writer's "views" were most likely not the case (from all appearances and relays, Bowen had fallen back and Allen jumped and landed not on him but on the floor).
Yet Mr. Allen after the game stated: "Same old Bruce," Allen said. "I got caught on his foot and it just turned. He's good for that. He's done that before." This was his early story. Mr. Allen must have watched the tape for on Monday for he is now being quoted in AP Reports: "I went to the lane, and pretty much after that I don't remember anything," said Allen."
Later he said again: "I know Bruce (Bowen) was riding me the whole time. I was shocked I didn't get the call. I don't know whose foot it was, I don't know anything except I came down wrong."
As a fan and part-time writer, I believe that Stu Jackson should take a look at this closely. In my opinion, this is a time a player has gone too far in "creating a story that has gotten unnecessary legs". Is anything "game" these days to get an edge that might sway an official? Is a fine in order for Mr. Allen? In my opinion it is, to send a warning to tone it down.
In Bowen's defense, this "tragic injury" appears to be in actuality an accident that occured when a defender played tight defense - that is part (sadly not enough!) of the game. Allen's continuing badgering on this "pseudo" cause of his injury in my opinion threatens the integrity of the game and could conceivably lead to blows - the last thing the league needs right now.
Just as importantly, champions and true superstars don't whine like this do they? Three time NBA champion Kobe Bryant seemingly never complained about Bowen defense, he just went out and often got the better of him in some classic back and forth series between two truly great teams.
Mr. Allen, if you are truly good enough to lead your team to similar heights, then please prove it on the floor, not in the "court" of the media and public opinion.
