View Full Version : The Five Stages Of Grief

Denial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial) – The Spurs will be fine and all they need is just one win and it's a brand new series.
Anger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anger) – The refs are screwing us! The NBA is rigged! Dragic! Dudley! Frye! Aaarrgghh!
Bargaining (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bargaining) – Please, just let the Spurs win one game . . . I will be a better person. I will go to church. I will make my life a worthwhile endeavor.
Depression (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depression_%28mood%29) – Why bother? We're screwed. It's over. The Spurs dynasty is dead.
Acceptance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acceptance) – The Spurs will be fine. We will get Splitter next year. The big three can still be productive. All we need are a good draft pick, a couple of solid bench players and a favorable resolution to the "Jefferson dilemma".

I am middling between 4 and 5 with an occasional hysterical slip back to 1. The anger is over shortly after the game and I always skip the bargaining because I am a godless heathen.

Where are you?

Interestingly I am a bundle of 1 and 5. Either I trespass 2-4 too quickly or the five stages are a sham. If its the latter, then possibly I am in 1 again.

#4 ... the spurs have no hope, Poppazit has ruined this team as currently constructed.. guys like Hairston and Mahinmi who could have made a difference withered and died on the bench while shitstains like Bonner and Bogans blew chunks out on the court.

Brilliant Post! Well done!

Most of us have gone through some of all of these, but I find myself stuck in 4.

And if this is where the fans are, where do you think the players and coaches would come out on the scale?

I'm still stuck in stage 1 until the Suns but us out of our misery which most likely will be tonight. Once we are out i think i'll go straight to 5.

I'm at Acceptance, and halfway through the regular season, I bet most people here did not expect the spurs to get to the second round.

Second Round = successful season

LOL, good thread..

I'm a cross between #4 and #5, don't really see that changing..I'm actually very happy the Spurs made the 2nd round, considering the circumstances..

I would think #5 is really acceptance that the Spurs dynasty is over and gratefullness that it was a wonderfull 10+ yr ride. What happens in the future is all gravy...4 rings is more than I could have ever asked for from the Spurs. Im a satisfied Spur fan for life now :)

But personally I think Im secretly at #1 right now

5... Acceptance. I agree with your definition, "The Spurs will be fine. We will get Splitter next year. The big three can still be productive. All we need are a good draft pick, a couple of solid bench players and a favorable resolution to the "Jefferson dilemma"." :toast:ihit:flag:

No need to spread grief about a team that isn't dead yet. Yeah, they've got about a 2% chance, but we'll get there when we get there.
