not a huge name. maybe if rj exercises the early termination on his contract spurs could bring in a larger name (insert name here)

Without his contract the Spurs would be at around $50 million. The cap is $56 million. Plus they have the MLE.

Time for Pop to get a favor from larry brown and get Gerald Wallace in a trade to let Tim have a chance at another ring.

Off the books next year:

Roger Mason: $3,780,000

Matt Bonner: $3,240,380

*Michael Finley: $2,500,000

Ian Mahinmi: $1,079,640

Keith Bogans: $1,033,342

Marcus Haislip: $389,586

Garrett Temple: $137,276

Cedric Jackson: $30,505

Not including the chance that Richard Jefferson opts out, that leaves a maximum "off the books" of almost $10 million assuming they let every one of those players go. Obviously, finley is already gone. If RJ opts out, which I honestly hope he does, that leaves the Spurs with about $26 million to work with and to stay at the current level of pay.

Dude, there's totally this Greek center that can solve all our problems. He's talking with the Spurs, and it's totally not just his agent trying to drive his price up.

No matter if everyone leaves or RJ opts out basically all we have is the MLE which will be mostly used to get Splitter.

No way in hell RJ declines $15mil and if he does it's terrible for Spurs because it still won't put us under the cap to sign anyone.

Also RJ will have a $15mil expiring contract which is a great trade chip to have.

Tiago Splitter?

He wont be any David robinson, or even a Luis Scola, but yeah, he might help.

Not unless you consider Splitter a "big name free agent". I don't expect a lot of change. They'll probably try unsuccessful to trade Jefferson and otherwise I expect them to sign Splitter, Bell or someone of that ilk only worse, Cook or someone of that ilk and caliber, draft an SF with their 1st round pick and that's about it.

Even if Rj declines & we let all of the exprings go are we not still barely under? Then we have the MLE. I dont see alot of promise with that. But we did advance with an aging core, with mediocre defense, & a scrub bench. We beat a very good team in Dallas...We are definately losing a step & did not meet expectations with RJ & McD, but I can see the pocket book opening up one last time because of the previously mentioned. At least hopefully...

Tiago Splitter, the 20th pick, and a 38 year old veteran shooter is all the spurs are going to sign.

Can we sucker Toronto to do a sign and trade. Bosh for RJ with whatever fillers necessary?

big name FA - absolutely not. The Spurs can't compete since they don't ahve the money like other teams do.
