View Full Version : Popovich ruined Tony Parker's Career

Even though he won a few titles with Duncan...Pop has always treated Parker like an unwanted step-child. He probably did this because Tony is a mild Frenchman that won't tell him to fuck off... He's never let Tony grow into a mature basketball player able to make on court decisions of his own. Everytime Parker tries or tried to make a decision Pop would give him that "I will beat your ass step-child glare"... He never really trusted Parker and that's too bad because Tony could have been the next Isaiah Thomas (or something close) if given the opportunity to dictate the offense and play more of a co-equal role with Duncan. Instead he forced Tony to be subservient to such a degree that Tony is now faltering. I compare it to the Boston - Rondo situation. Even with 3 first ballot HOF'ers..DOC has empowered Rondo and made his confidence surge.

Now Pop doesn't know what the fuck to do. Timmy's window could have been expanded had Tony been given equal status. They just resigned an aging Manu -- (bad fucking deal signing a guy that's balding before our very eyes)

Pop has just mismanaged this guy from the very start and now he will pay for it..

Tony had equal status last season.

The rest of your rant is excellent guesswork, though.

FG attempts since the 2004/05 season:

Duncan- 15.8 - 14.8 - 14.1 - 15.1 - 14.8 - 13.9

Parker- 14.2 - 14.2 - 15.1 - 17.5 - 12.8 (and because he was injured this season, he was supossed to be our number one option this season)

I don't know about you but that seems pretty equal to me.

uh, what?

My guess is he hasn't been following the Spurs very closely.

I'm sure TP is quite ok by the way the spurs and Pop managed him so far tbh. He has a very good paycheck, 3 rings, one mvp finals, some ASGs and a hot wife. He is the perfect spurs player: ready to do without complaining what is the best for the team. On top of that he has been blessed to play with Tim Duncan, I'm sure at the end he is quite happy.

Just for comparision sake, In the three years that Gasol and Kobe were teammates:

Bryant- 20.6 - 20.9 - 21.5

Gasol- 12.3 - 12.9 - 13

And IMO the gap between Bryant and Gasol is closer than the gap between Duncan and Parker.

-Difference in shot attempts between Parker in his rookie year and Duncan (during that time the second best player in the NBA): 7.4

-Difference in shot attempts between Pau and Kobe this year: 8.5

:lol

Lakers would win 70 games if they switched those FG attempt numbers.

Anyway, TP is fine.
