If he genuinely wants to be a Spur, then I want him in the silver & black. If he decides it's time to move on, good luck wherever he might go. Tony has done a lot for the Spurs and I wish him nothing but the best, regardless of where he plays.
now if only he would give up the French NT...

Sigh. I feel bad for Tony, but as he said, the rumors are hardly surprising. It still doesn't stop me from hoping that these idiots would just shut up with these trade rumors.

Rumors are always going to be there, of course, but I don't get some people who are all hyped and excited by them and believe these BS reports. Even worse than the paparazzi indeed. Parker isn't going anywhere, not now at least and of course he wants to stay.
Anyway, good that he told something about this. Bad for him for having to deal with this bullshit while enjoying vacation :lol

Why wouldn't he?
He's been there his whole carrere, built a house, got married, found a team/system where he perfectly feets... No reason to move unless the FO wants him to move or don't show him enough trust/respect on the long term!
+ Tony apreciates to have a quiet environment in SA, I don't think he is looking for a LA or NY type of team...
And changing team would mean new system, new teamates/coach/media/types of fans...
It doesn't feet with his "personality".
I'm pretty confident he WANTS to stay his whole carreer as a Spur (a whole carreer for the same club means something on the resume), if he leaves, it will be the FO decision (unless they offer him a cheap extention)

The funny thing is, most of the fans on here who want to trade him just want to do so for the sake of trading him. If you told them we could move him for a not-yet 28 year old slashing PG, former Finals MVP who averages 19-20 ppg on 50% shooting, and immediately fit into Pop's system - they'd be THRILLED.
...the only problem is...THAT is Tony.

Parker's in his prime. I'm hoping we trade for someone who's not quite there. Early 20's.

something needs to happen. We bring back the same old big 3 with Bonner and RJ and we are doomed for failure.

Article's probably wrong. But if they don't extend him someone is going to be willing to pay him more than the Spurs will. Unless they max him out. Of course I'm probably wrong.

max contract as in around the same amount as manu.
manu got "maxed" out by the spurs and its around 11-12/year... because thats the most the spurs could offer....
getting "maxed" out doesnt always mean its over 20 million a year......
Of course the Spurs and Tony Parker would deny rumors even if they were true. Rarely, if ever, have the Spurs been vocal about trying to get rid of mutlimillion dollar players - not the CIA way.

NY could over pay. Gallinari, Curry, Chandler, and sign and trade Lee for RJ and Parker. Crazy, but would you do it?

Multiple sources tell @newsday that despite denials Tony Parker has told friends he'd like a trade to #nyknicks.

Tony Parker's friends are reportedly saying he'd like a trade to the Knicks, though Parker himself has denied it multiple times.
Frank Isola of the New York Daily News was the first to report this, and it was backed up by multiple sources via Newsday.

New York Daily News and Newsday do journalism that's almost as high quality as the National Enquirer. I exaggerate, but you get the point.

I know-- just posting the claim for all to see.
Although- the Enquirer was in the running for a Pulitzer for breaking the John Edwards story.

Wondering if this is fueling the rumors about New York:
It has been in talks for months that Thierry Henry would join MLS at some point and reports out of NY are saying it will happen this summer. The New York Post has reported that Henry has been in talks with the New York Red Bulls and will join them after the 2010 World Cup. He hasn’t signed a contract yet but sources are saying the deal is all but done.

Sure I would...... I'd be even more thrilled if you told me we could get a PG who does those things plus shoots the three ball better, plays better defense and is capable of finding his teammates in their sweet spots (not just on penetrate and kick outs).
It's silly to suggest that most people here just want to trade him for the sake of trading him. This team isn't a championship contender as constructed. Bringing Parker back, plus some new role players isn't going to change that.

I remember reading an article in which someone from the Spurs organization suggested that he was indeed looking for a max contract. I'll post the link if I can find it.

2 guys I'd like from the Knicks: Chandler/Lee. Outside of that and future draft picks, put it to rest. I'm not all for showing Tony the door, especially if he does indeed want to stay, but I'm keeping an open mind.
