My 1st 1080p (plus) HDTV. I'm so excited :)

While I have every tech gadget I would ever need, and plenty of internal computer tuners, mini adapters for HDTV, I am getting my 1st QAM full 1080p LCD TV that will double as a computer monitor. The thing is, this monitor is actually 1920x1200, which is 16:10 and therefore even better as a gaming screen. I am so excited. I have had HD availability in my area for a long time, and have never been able to take advantage.
Its gonna be just over 25". Big upgrade from my 19" 1440x900 LCDs.

Congrats.. I made the jump a month ago from a 30 inch boob tube to a 55 inch LCD HDTV.. it is such a difference trust me. You will love it.

for 25 inches you wont be able to tell much unless your eyes are 6 inches from the screen, also none of your broadcasts will be 1080p, highest is 1080i, true 1080p you need a blu ray drive in your computer

Like ynh (http://spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=10137), I madde the jump from a regular TV (32', CRT, Sony multisystems, still good stuff though)

There is a noticeable difference indeed.

For HD cable, it's great too, but all HD channels are 1080 i, not p yet (at least in Canada)

Congrats! We bought a 36" back in '06 and it's been really enjoyable. I'm waiting for the 47" LCD Samsungs to come down in price a bit, and I'll probably make another jump.

Ive had a 22" LCD 1920x1200 monitor for years. Its still sweet, but starting to show its age with new refresh rates.

I don't like the 16:10 aspect ratio unless you can correct it in a menu. Otherwise your TV pictures are going to be distorted vertically.

Yeah, the aspect ratio on this screen is supposed to be properly corrected. 1:1 pixel mapping, meaning black bars while watching TV.

I got this as a replacement monitor first, and a TV/MMC screen second. It will be used as a desk monitor, flanked by a couple of older 1680x1050 screens. I wanted the superior vertical resolution for work that I am doing.
QAM is the free unencrypted signal over the air. I know it is 1080i, but it is my only stand alone HDTV I have (a little 15" 1024x768 I got from Best Buy doesn't count, and doesn't have a good tuner).

I do plan on getting either a stand alone or internal PC Bluray drive. But I am in no rush. I was most interested in getting OTA transmissions.

The one I got supposedly has a good refresh rate, and decent speakers.

I do still have a huge 52" SDTV. It has a great sound system, and it still looks beautiful. I am not getting rid of it (My bro got it for 200 bux, and he loves it). But for when I want to watch something now, I will have the ability to watch 1080p when necessary.
