Who do you see as the heir to the Lakers Coaching Throne?

My guesses would be: Jeff Van Gundy,Brian Shaw,Doug Collins and Nate McMillan.

Kobe has said he likes JVG and Nate McMillan, and kobe does have some pull

IF the Lakers repeat, I just can't see Phil retiring. He is going to want to go for that 4th 3 peat.

Jeff Van Gundy would be one of the more odd fits as coach for the Lakers.

Nate McMillan would be great, but I don't know how easy it will be to get him to leave Portland.

Perhaps they try to get Rambis to pull a Lane Kiffin to keep the coaching and schemes relatively consistently.

I think Byron Scott would be high on the list, whether or not he's a good choice.

It's going to be Shaw.

Next Lakers coach is probably with another team right now. (Tom Thibodeau?) I think Byron Scott would be a favorite. I say let Tex Winter do it for a couple of years. That keeps Kobe in the triangle offense at least a couple more years.

Phil Jackson has already "retired" and thought about retiring more than Brett Favre. I dont see him leaving in the near future and he'll be in LA until that well is dry.

Thibedaue is def not happening,no way Lakers have a ex-celtic coach the team
Kurt Rambis is def not going to be coach, after what happened last time. Players dont listen to him
Tex Winter is way older than Phil and has health issues
Byron Scott I could actually see a chance of happening,he groomed Kobe in this league and Kobe really respects him

Phil is going to retire in the summer to wait where Lebron is going and then he'll come out of retirement to coach Lebron

I could do a better job than Scott. He coaches defense like he played it.

To cover the defensive flaws of the star player? (Magic, CP3)

It's going to be Shaw.

Agreed. I think he'd be the right man for the job, too.

Michael Cooper didn't play 48 minutes a game, and Magic almost never defended the other team's best guard, even with Coop out of the game.

kobe likes the ugliest van gundy because JVG spends half of his broadcast time slobbering all over kobes rod

Phil's going to Chicago so he can bang LeBron's mom.
