He's been in great form with his commentaries. I with they had picked Marc Jackson or Reggie Miller.

The 76ers have agreed to terms with new head coach Doug Collins. An official announcement will be made on Friday, and Collins will likely be introduced on Monday.

Collins has a career NBA coaching record of 332-287, including stints with the Bulls, Pistons, and Wizards. The Sixers just lucked into the #2 pick in the 2010 draft, and the addition of someone like Evan Turner could put them right back in the postseason picture.

A perennial loser, in a winner's circle due to his skin pigmentation and nothing else.

At least he'll keep his fuckin' nose out of the Laker's business for a while.

---

His 1972 Olympic Silver Medal still rests in that Swiss Vault. It's in his will that under no circumstances should his heirs remove it.

I don't get why people hated on his commentating. I always liked it.

I think he had good info to offer. His commentary is good from a substance standpoint. But his personality is boring and a kinda annoying. I could see how he would grate on players and how they'd tune him out after a while.

To me he's the best analyst in national tv. I do prefer to listen to JVG because he's more entertaining... but it's a guilty pleasure.

Philly?

He's screwed.

I dug it. He generally knew what he was talking about. Every now and then he would just talk too much.

:lol

Jackson: Thats just bad defense right there.

Miller: The Nuggets (after acquiring Iverson) just leap frogged Dallas, Phoenix and San Antonio for best in the west.

Those two are both clueless. If I had to pick I would go with Jackson. Miller absolutely sucks.

Im really surprised that Collins took this job. I just heard him on a national show saying that the city would really have to work for him and his wife. He said he lives in Scottsdale during the season, San Diego during the summer and currently works one day a week (except playoffs).

Why the hell would you leave that for Philly?

Thank God. Collins' constant harping on every single mistake with that whiny voice of his is tiring to listen to. It's too bad Hubie's gone senile, as he was much better.

Agreed.

The worst are the paranoid lot, "Collins is a Lakerhater!"

I swear I must have seen that expressed 500 times in various forums. And I never, ever understood it.

Until I visited a few other team forums and read:

"Collins is a Spurhater!"

"Collins is such a Laker homer! He hates the Mavs!"

"It's so obvious Collins was pulling for the Blazers to make the comeback! He always hates on the Jazz."

People hear what they want to hear and when a commentator dares to utter any critical word against their sacred cow team, well then obviously he's a hater.

Hey... how could you possibly enjoy national NBA telecasts without "Mama, there goes that man!" and "Hand down, man down!"? :lol

I like Collins, too. Give me guys like him, Hubie, and yeah, Stu Lantz whose knowledge and observations transcend the obvious.

But, he says those two things too much now, especially "Mama." I never liked "Hand down." Less is better. Now it's commonplace instead of something speical. I bet the producers told him to increase the output.

You've said this before, Tim, but, I always like to read it once more. It's complete and easily understood. Good stuff, Tim.

dude has a whiny way of commentating. gets old. And it is true he favors the lakers or at least gets more excited and talks more in depth about them compared to other teams.
