Yep. The only thing the Mavs would have to gain would be less of a hit to Cubans wallet when he takes on more big contacts this year.

nope. He's been offered a 3yr deal worth up to 75 million from Mavs, which i don't think will help arrange enough room for another quality player. he only opts out to sign his one last big contract, attempting to get more rather than less IMHO.
