View Full Version : Can anyone pinpoint the moment in time Lopez 'got it'?

This remains the mystery of the year for me regarding the Suns. I swear officials must have had it in for him. It was amazing how quickly he could rack up fouls, then towards the end of the season, he magically becomes good. Playing 20+ minutes, just a few fouls, some boards, and bonus offense.

What changed? Til someone proves to me otherwise, I think it was officiating determined to show him who's boss.

This game is when he played really well off the bench:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201001160CHA.html

My guess is Gentry's plan was to get him in the starting lineup ASAP so he used it as an excuse, and this is his first game in the starting lineup:

Don't know, but I liked when he "got" Fisher with an elbow last night running up the court. That was probably my favorite play of the game! :lmao

Fisher had it coming. Instead of running back on defense, he stood there hoping someone not looking would run into him. Oops.... I saw more veteran cheap plays out of Fisher last night than any other game I watched this year. Guess you have to tweak your game when you get old.

Oh I agree. Fisher is a dirty player now that he's slowing down. That's why I LOVED that elbow. It was great with Lopez running up the court with his arms up as big men usually do and then he just clipped Fisher on the top of the noggin! :lol

Yeah.

Fisher does play a cheap game. It's something you see a lot from smaller (Paul, Stockton) and older (Bowen, Stockton) players. Notice Stockton appears twice. :lol

Think about it: who's most likely to get away with that stuff? Smaller players and older players. Both are likely to play with an edge as "underdogs" who feel they need that stuff to get ahead. And the refs are mostly likely to give leeway to those guys. The worst are guys like Stockton and Fisher who are both older and smaller. :lol

Some teams like the Celtics have that stuff sort of ingrained in their philosophy as a whole.

If it's your opponent doing it, it's "cheap dirty play" but when your team/player does it, it's "doing whatever it takes to win."

Sons shit happens, it's the playoffs. I hate the Lakers but this kind of incessant whining whenever an LA player does something semi-questionable is getting annoying. Nash didn't seem to think that foul from Fisher was mean spirited at all. Fisher and Sarver actually exchanged smiles after talking about it. Fisher went to take a swipe at Nash's midsection and his head in the process broke Nash's nose, it didn't look intentional to me. Lopez and Fisher just got tangled up at the wrong time, no big deal.

So far, this series has only been about which team has played better, and that's the way it should be. The people who sit there looking for fouls and refs to bitch about could end up missing a good series.

That is a smart play to look for bigs that are not paying attention and put yourself in position for a chage. Completely different from standing in one spot hoping someone runs into you. Your boy Nash is one of the best at it as well.

We're gonna need this kind of production from our big men every night if we hope to stand a chance against the Lakers. Amare and Lopez need to bring it all 48 minutes, and Frye needs to pull his head out of his ass and have one or two good games before the series is over.

I'm not really worried about our wing players... Dudley, Hill, and JRich play with more intensity than anyone else on our team.

I'm guessing Phil considering the possibility of benching him has to do with his knee maybe getting worse and the poor play. I still think being able to bring Odom off the bench and Bynum's lane clogging is important, but LA is still a very good team if he's out.

I'm guessing Phil considering the possibility of benching him has to do with his knee maybe getting worse and the poor play. I still think being able to bring Odom off the bench and Bynum's lane clogging is important, but LA is still a very good team if he's out.

The knee is definetly affecting him. PJ is not going to sit him. That was PJ's way of sending him the message. Play through it with some aggression or you're going to sit.

That's exactly the thing though.....you think bynum gives a shit that he is benched?

He's making them 12 mil a year whether he plays or not. Why run when you can sit on a cushy sit like morrison and yawn?

I actually do think he cares and I bet he comes out with more agression next game. I guess we will see.

Yup, LA still scored around 110 points so even with a few steals, the suns zone D didn't really slow down LA that much.

True, but it's not like they started with the zone D. The defense got noticeably better somewhere in the middle of the game (I believe it was 2nd quarter) when they started going zone.

You know what, nevermind. You are a fucking mongoloid and this is a waste of time.

:lmao :rollin

There are a few constants in the universe, and this is one of them. Funny thing is, their butts are all chapped about Fisher and his chronic flopping and dirty playing because it shows a lack of class in general so its always fun to point it out. :D

That's a stretch...

Lopez > Scola, Fishpoop would have probably bounced off him like a rubber ball hitting a cement wall

Then I would rely on plan B. Telling him I was going to rape his daughters empty eye socket but I would wear a condom so my dick doesn't get cancer.
