LONDON (AFP) - Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and bride of Prince Charles, will carry out her first solo official engagement as a British royal this month, in a visit to a public hospital.
The visit to Southampton General Hospital in southern England, on May 23, was initially set for a month earlier, on April 25, but delayed until after the general election.
Clarence House, the London residence of Charles and Camilla, said it would have been insensitive for the duchess to visit a hospital while campaigning
was under way in which public health care was a major issue.
Camilla and Charles, who have known each other for more than 30 years and lived together for several years, married on April 9.
