This might have been his best chance at a championship (or at least getting to the Finals), and he didn't show up for most of the series.

Some players are spectacular in the regular season, however can't play well in the playoffs.

There are players who can take a hit and still make the shot. A couple of sample players that know how to play playoff basketball:

Ginobili
Paul Pierce
Caron Butler <-- don't know why we couldn't get this guy
Dwane Wade

RJ > VC...especially since if the Spurs were to have gotten VC, the Nets wanted Hill in return...:td

I don't know about that. Sure he didn't have great numbers, but there were about 15 games this year the Spurs would have lost had RJ not played well, and there were about 15 that RJ played well in and the Spurs lost. His problem this season is that he lack aggression, next season he'll attack more I believe.

And probably about 15 we would of won if he played "okay"

RJ was the much better deal, didn't have to include Hill and his contract is much better than VC's.

I think after getting burned with RJ we are done signing older veterans.

It's not just about wins and losses. Carter's contract doesn't expire this year like Jefferson's. We'd be on the hook for like another three years at a high salary. We'd be trading ourfirst round pick like the Suns did for a few years to keep from getting killed by the cap.
