In the West, it appears to be the Lakers, and the Lakers. The Lakers are the only team who can win it all without a legit center, because all they need is size there (Paging Mr. Bynum) The Gasol trade solidified the Lakers', however, the Thunder are a young squad who is up and coming, which Durant will be a beast for years to come. Portland, which seems to have contracted Rockets' disease. Spurs are old, they need an infusion of youth. Dallas needs to play Beaubois more, and JJB less, much more less to the point of NO playing time. A scoring/slashing two guard is what they have needed for a while, since Caron isn't a good look at that position. The Nuggets are mental midgets, so it seems that no matter how much or little that they upgrade by, JR Smith and company will still be the death of that team. Utah needs to get more height. Phoenix seems headed in the right direction, as long as Amare stays. New Orleans needs alot of things. Houston NEEDS mr shite for any legitimate postseason run, also, Hassan Whiteside might be a good addition.

What needs to happen in the West for a team to be in the conversation with L.A.?

LA wasn't even that much better than the West this year.

Lakers do have a legit center, Pau Gasol.

Lakers will continue declining while the Blazers/Mavs/Thunder emerge to knock them from their throne.

Lakers will be exposed as a flawed team that can't generate enough offense against a REAL defense.

The Lakers own the west. That's all that's need to be said after all of these years.

The Blazers will be healthy and as long as they stay healthy they will be the class of the West. The Lakers won't be able to deal with our frontcourt.

If anyone will be declining it's the Mavs. They continue to be exposed as a team that wins games in the regular season and gets embarrassed against lesser teams in the playoffs.

Oden, Camby, Przybilla, Aldridge, and Batum. The Lakers don't have a chance.

Aldridge is the only player in your list that's an offensive threat....try again:lmao

Ohhhh the Lakers are scared. Got any Hall of Famers there? Any all-stars even? :lmao

The Blazers front line has done nothing to show us anyone should be worried.

The only "no chance" has been the Blazers getting out of the first round.
