KG is right. Who would have thought a Lakers player would get MVP chants in Boston? Anything is possible. :lol

Like Paul Pierce stated yesterday, Boston fans are knowledgeable. ;)

Those were most definitely Boston fans chanting MVP for Kobe. Make no mistake about it. They had suffered so long in the muck of misery; it had been so long since they were treated to seeing great talent, that they just decided to say, FUCK IT, WE LOVE KOBE...MVP. Yup, you saw it... Boston's finest.

Actually, Bostonfan heard rumors that we were trying for Kobe, so we wanted to show him some love.

Look at trade number 5. The idea that Kobe could come to Boston was out there.

Nice try, Ln.:nope

Want more proof? Sure...

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/3446/kobe-bryant-says-he-d-like-to-be-traded

The Lakers could take their pick of the Boston roster, I'd imagine, although getting Bryant to join a decimated version of the worst team in the league could be tough. (UPDATE: Here's a "for instance" version (http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2389~662~110&teams=13~13~2). The teams might also swap first round picks. The problem here, I'm guessing, is the Bryant might not like it.)

http://www.yardbarker.com/nba/articles/Kobe_Bryant_to_Boston/16425

(http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392)Kobe Bryant (http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392) recently reiterated his desire to be traded from the Lakers. If this actually happens, the Lakers would want to move him to an Eastern Conference teams. The Boston Celtics (http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392) are one of the few teams with the right pieces to get a deal done. It could happen, but it might take a lot: For (http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392)Kobe Bryant (http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392) (http://www.yardbarker.com/content/player/4392) to come to Boston, it most certainly would require giving up the #5 pick.

Did I think it was going to happen? No. But there were people floating that idea.

The funny part of this claim is that if the shoes were reversed, the Spurs fans would fight to the death defending those titles. I would, though, make certain that if you're going to be a Laker fan--at least know the histroy of the Minneapolis Lakers (or some of it).

And nobody uttered a peep until we squared off with Boston in '08. Then Media ran with the ball and the rumblings started about differentiating twixt MN. & CA. There was a respite of course after we got our asses handed to us, but, the die was cast and there would be no more going back to the purity of one franchise/one ring count.

If we ring here the commotion will once again come to the fore, Media putting out the talking points/marching orders.

We've never suited Media at Number One. We serve swell at Number Two. They can kick the shit out of us and bally-hoo the Celtics. If we win they won't kick the shit out of the Celtics, and they won't bally-hoo us. So, we're poison in their eye at #16.

Boston fans were really dumb to even think that was a possibility. To actually go out and kiss Kobe's ass on national television was ever more pathetic.

I won't deny that. But look at the Boston team before the Big Three came together. They were desperate. :lol

We bought that team and it's history.

It's funny how there are so many other teams that claim championships in former homes, but none get the bitching that the Lakers do. I guess that less-than-poignant phrase, "haters gonna hate" is definitely appropriate at this point.

Wow, and I prop you for that. :tu. Not too many Laker fans give the Spurs props for winning that 99' ship. Hell, alot of the Laker "fans" I know still to this day put an asterisk on it, but we all know that if the Lakers would have won it that year those same fans who put an asterisk on the Spurs would be screaming 4-PEAT! from 99' to 02'.

What's the point in arguing the validity? That's the one thing I don't really like to get involved with. I mean, no matter how much we try to discredit something (or credit) in the end, it'll either stand or not. I know for damn sure if the Lakers started their run in '99 I would venture there'd be someone who disclaimed it and of course, Laker fans would acknowledge it. I also believe the whole asterisk thing was a ploy by Phil Jackson to make sure people knew a new sheriff was in town and to help initiate the psyche of the Lakers from perennial playoff flameouts to champions.
