Congratulations to the inaugural All-SpursTalk class! A special thanks to Pistons < Spurs for the graphics, to the 21 posters that returned a nomination ballot, and a special thanks to all those that participated in the vote and allowed this to occur in a good-natured fashion (which left me with an inordinate amount of Preparation H left over that I'm not sure what to do with -- it's better to be safe than sorry when planning for butthurt, it's just not something you want left on your hands. I do, however, hear it works wonders for those who complain of bags under their eyes. ... Y'all know where to find me).

Which leads me to the final results. Ah, yes. ... The final results (maybe I'll be able to get some of this Prep H off my hands after all).

It was quite the chore for all involved when it came to nominations, and had their been a differential of 10 -- plus or minus -- in ballots received, we could've very well seen some different results. Maybe a few more posters find themselves in the running; maybe they simply find themselves mentioned in the final results? This endeavor was rather experimental and not without its flaws but, as the names prove to show, there seemed to definitely be more hits than misses -- on a board that boasts roughly 18,800 members (alright, usernames), 145,000 threads and 4.3 million posts, more hits than misses ain't no small feat.

I promised transparency, so transparency is what you'll get. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer any of them that don't put me in the position of breaking my word. And if a couple of you sick puppies find yourselves counting the votes and thinking there's some funny business or ...

http://www.allhatnocattle.net/George_Bush_Fuzzy_Math.jpg

... keep in mind that I removed myself after 9 ballots.

So without further adieu:

Congratulations to all that received votes -- to receive even one is saying something, given the sheer number of candidates -- and I look forward to the next phase; there remains a couple of more awards to give out of the "serious" variety but the fun should really ensue with the start of the first ever Double Down: SpurTalk Awards, 2010 ceremony.

Coming soon . . . :smokin

I ain't Floridian. I'm a Texan!

But seriously, a lot of great posters didn't get a vote or enough votes but the sheer numbers and the fact that I was only able to get 21 ballots, it was bound to happen.

Hopefully people enjoy this, have fun with it and when it comes about in the future, we'll get a little more participation and a better representation of the whole board.

Now, about that Preparation H . . . :hat

Sorry, Phila_, ain't buying that one. This was for the people and by the people and it was pretty clear what the people here thought about your contributions.

I talked to an assistant of NBA security a while back and he told me that the Knicks are playing a pre-season game in Milan, Italy and the Spurs are playing a pre-season game in Mexico City. He also told me that Caja was coming to SA for a pre-season game. If Tiago doesn't come over that could get awkward.

In all seriousness, and I alluded to this prior, there were plenty of quality posters that didn't get a vote or probably should've received more. Had I been able to get a better sample-size, something greater and a little more diverse in terms of ballots, there would've been plenty more acknowledged and I'm sure just as many given a good bump in the vote.

Since this has gone relatively smoothly and the board seems to have enjoyed it thus far, hopefully that'll help me or whoever wants to take the reins next year when it comes to getting more of the board involved with nominations.

Make no mistake, Dex, you're one of the better posters here. And given the criteria the voters were given (Top-15 for the entire board -- consisting of over 18,000), 2's a much more impressive number than it appears. :tu

I notice that SFIE has a big pic of his medal in his sig area. Is this going to his head? Have we created a monster?

I dig it SFIE; it won't make me look quite as bad when I name myself MVP and devote a thread to the greatness that is Blackjack. :tu

Edit: ElNono definitely deserved more love. He's one of the best and most intelligent posters here.

Coming soon . . . :smokin

Congrats to everyone

And Great job Blackjack :tu

Well, The Double Down is coming up and I still need a few more ideas for categories. It's the entertainment portion, so I'm looking for creativity and some funny; one more chance to win an unclaimed award.

How's this for a tease?

The next trophy up for grabs:

To Blackjack: You belong on these lists. Thanks for the time and effort putting this together. :toast

I've had my nose so far up the ass of the NBA Draft, that I completely missed this entire thread. That is, until I saw the miniature medal and wondered what it was. Too bad. I probably could've padded the votes of some of favorite posters. :lol

Well said, Duncan228. Helluva job by you BlackJack for stringing this thing together. It HAD to be a lot of man-hours and effort on your part. A gift certificate for the Preparation H is on its way to you. :toast

And to everyone else who makes this forum a MUST-SEE and MUST-READ for all matters Spurs-related, a big ol' :tu.

That said, I'd like to thank my mom and dad, the academy... :rollin

Agreed. Nice job Blackjack :toast and IMO you should be on the list also ElNono. Always enjoy reading your posts in all the forums :tu

I voted for you Nono;)..

As one of the voters for the initial nominations, I'll say this was extremely difficult to narrow down to 15..I had at least 40 posters in mind TBH, there are A LOT of good posters here(not just Spurs fans), other than Laker fans, since they generally lack quality TBH..

From my initial 15 picks, EIGHT of them didn't make any of the "teams", which seemed unlikely going into this IMO..

ElNono definitely deserved more love. He's one of the best and most intelligent posters here.

Thanks for the kind words to all of you.

I agree with Harlem. I also found it extremely difficult to pin down just 15 nominees. It was fun though. :tu

If I was thinking straight, I'd go back home, find a used trailer, buy a deep fryer and some Oreos. Problem is, this is the only thing I ever felt good doing. If I'm not good doing this, then I got nothing.

That enough truth to suit you?

Emerging from the shadows in 2008, a member since 2007, this individual burst on to the scene with an in-depth report of 2008's Rocky Mountain Review. It proved to be a Spur-worthy contribution, one that would etch his name immediately into the SpursTalk landscape.

Since that fateful first report, this poster has consistently brought top-notch contributions and displayed a willingness to learn and improve upon his knowledge for all things NBA, even when little was needed. He stays above the fray and presents himself affably, cordially and without pretension. He contributes to the discussion with an enthusiasm and attention to detail; a concise delivery with little wasted movement. He's a calm, cogent presence that manages to be heard no matter the noise, and he manages to do so with a healthy amount of humor and tact.

He's a first-class poster, a member of All-SpursTalk's Third Team and a breath of fresh air to the SpursTalk community. He's simply a testament to Raising the Bar. His name is lurker23, SpursTalk's 2010 Sportsman of the Year.

Congratulations, lurker23! :toast

http://imgburst.com/up/lurker.jpg

This poster has been a member of SpursTalk since 2003. A member of All-SpursTalk's Second Team and one of SpursTalk's most respected posters for his quick wit, intelligence and love for the message board volley, he's made a name for himself like few others. He's become the the board's go-to-guy for Austin Toros and D-League news, always managing to keep SpursTalk's posters up to speed on the comings and goings of their team's D-League affiliate.

This man is Teflon. He's rubber to your glue. His counter-punching style would make Floyd Mayweather proud. His message board jiu-jitsu could very well give Gracie a run for his black belt. No one turns defense to offense better or exploits a sloppy attack when the opportunity presents itself. No one. The award could very well don his name and there's no doubt his presence goes hand-in-hand with Raising the Bar.

He'll send your weak stuff to the second row, lock you up if you don't come correct, and he'll simply weather the storm until you've run out of steam. His name is ChumpDumper, SpursTalk's 2010 Defensive Poster of the Year.

Congratulations, ChumpDumper! :toast

http://imgburst.com/up/dpoy.jpg

A member since 2005, this poster has set the standard for knowledge and knowhow of NBA finance. Simply put, he's the board's resident capologist. A member of All-SpursTalk's First Team, he co-founded the board's Think Tank in 2009, alongside Marcus Bryant, and has since been the biggest reason for its continued success and growth -- he's been the forum's lifeblood, putting unheard of time, focus and energy into making it one of this board's truly unique and useful assets.

When he posts, you take the time to read. When you feel the need to respond or take umbrage, you're forced to come with your best (unless you don't mind being made to look foolish). His mere presence succeeds in defining the mission statement: Raising the Bar.

He hails from France, and you're not going to find a better usage of the words "damn" or "quite." His name is Bruno, SpursTalk's 2010 Most Valuable Poster.

Congratulations, Bruno! :toast
