Ronald Martinez/Getty Images There is an option for LeBron James if he wants to go to a winning team: the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs could trade Tony Parker, who only has one year left on his contract, Manu Ginobili, and some draft picks to the Cavaliers for LeBron James.

Why would LeBron want to go to San Antonio in the first place? I have reasons that could entice LeBron James into a Spurs uniform in 2011.

First, LeBron would be with Tim Duncan. Duncan is one of the greatest big men the NBA has ever seen.

Also, LeBron could mentor the young guys like Dejuan Blair and George Hill. Both would be starters if this trade happened.

The state of Texas has no state income tax, so really LeBron would be getting twice as much money.

Coach Gregg Popovich, in my opinion is one of the greatest coaches in the NBA. LeBron James would love to play under Popovich.

Even though San Antonio isn't a big market, there are based off of championships. LeBron even said, he wants to go a team that can win right now.

LeBron would rule San Antonio, Tim Duncan would be the No. 2 guy. Duncan, though, only cares about winning.

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the best franchises in the NBA. LeBron James would make them even better and more mainstream.

Then you bring in the Mexico factor for LeBron James. San Antonio is very close to Mexico.

LeBron could globalize himself in Mexico. That could make LeBron James a bigger sports figure in Central America than most NBA players.

Even though San Antonio isn't that big of a sports market, he has Mexico that could him up out, marketing wise.

When you add the winning tradition of the Spurs, Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich, and the Mexico factor.

LeBron James should go to San Antonio and win some championships.

Ummm....don't the Cavs have to have LeBron for this to work? How many GMs around the league are planning to go through the wringer and break the bank for LeBron so they can get Parker's expiring contract and Manu?

My bad, a different writer from footbasket wrote it, Evan Sidery. He owns this site with the other kid.

About
We are just a couple of guys (Josh Dhani and Evan Sidery) who created a fan club at Facebook called the Kevin Durant Fan Club. I made a site called LeBron the Religion and a fan club on FaceBook and asked Evan if we'd like to start one for Mr. Durant. So we did and now you are reading Durantulas.com! Durantula? What is that? A nickname a guy made for him, and it fits perfectly for him. Most people are afraid of tarantulas, and players are afraid of this freakish athlete. So enjoy this site/blog about Kevin Durant and the Thunder! YEAH!

Regardless of the plausibility, I don't think James would do it.

It would take him several years to become #1 with the fans. Bit of a setback on building yourself when your city is saying 'but it's still Duncan's team...'

LeBron was already with Shaq....one of the most dominant post players ever. He wont want to do the same experiment with another great poster player on the decline in Duncan. No way this happens.

First off, this trade won't happen, because Lebron is going to be a free agent. But anyone who says they wouldn't trade Manu to get Lebron is insane. It's about winning championships, and as much as I love Manu, Lebron would be great. Wouldn't give up Manu and Tony, though...would just put us in the same position as Cleveland, and they don't win either.

How could the fact that Texas has no personal income tax "Double" his money? Ohio's rate is close to 6%, so he could make 6% more in Texas although you must count that state taxes are deductible, and that he would have to pay the various state income taxes in the states he plays his away games in, so that benefit would be only 4% at most not 100% as your double/"twice as much" quote would indicate. So, in essence, that made me stop considering your other points as remotely credible.

At first we don't need to give up so much players to get Lebron. If Lebron agrees to join us, Cavs don't have too much option to avoid it. They would easily accept Jefferson-Hill or Dejuan and a first rounder in exchange. That's one of the best sign&trade offer they can get elsewhere and they would easily accept it. That's why, if we can convince Lebron to come here, we can keep both Manu and Parker.
