son Kobe is the biggest chucker in the history of the NBA ... he has been pushed to the top by the media simply for financial reasons. The NBA knows that 90% of people watching the games are too stupid to understand the game of basketball. If ESPN tells them Kobe is the best, that's what most people will believe. its that simple

The Nets made him famous. The Pistons put him in his place. The Celtics bitch slapped his tiny head. And the Magic made him famous again.

Time for some Celtics smackdown again.

Too bad we can't resurrect that 04 Pistons team, those fools could ball.

LMAO ... 24 points per game on 41% shooting! absolutely fucking pathetic .... ANY NBA player could put up those numbers if they were given the "green light" like Kobe has to jack up as many idiotic shots as he damn well please. oh yea, this dude is one of the greatest alright. LMAO

Kobe had a really great series against Philly as well. He had one really bad game in game 1 of that series, but the rest of the series, he put it on the Sixers.

Thanks again for the research. It is still obvious looking at it the Nets series was a major outlier. Plus, people gave the Nets less of a chance that series than the Cavs had against the Spurs in 2007. If we take away that outlier, I bet Kobe's final stats are analogous to a confused shot-jacking Glenn Robinson hahahahhaha

Take the Nets series out, and Kobe's Finals numbers are pretty much the same:

Including the Nets: 24.6 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 5.3 APG, 41.4% FG
Not including the Nets: 24.2 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 5.3 APG, 40.2% FG

Hey tlongII. You said he only gets killed when he shoots under 40%.

He doesn't only get killed for the Pistons Finals. He gets killed for all of them until last year. And he still got criticized even then.

despite ur denigration attempts Kobe as a single player is worth more than the whole spurs team as a global icon....in fact I'd venture to say he's worth more than any NBA team as a global icon maybe with the exception of the Knicks...

that's the real scoreboard...:toast

No you're talking about being a global icon, because if we were talking about high level basketball, the Knicks certainly wouldn't have been in the discussion, much less the top of the list...

You're bragging about media hype, marketing, having millions of ignorant bandwagon fans as a result... all the shit that negatively effects the game itself when it comes right down to it, typical Laker fan shit.

don't get pussy wet because no one gives a shit about San Antonio...it's a fucking lame ass town with a fucking bayou running through it as it's selling point...Like I said Kobe as a player is worth more than your whole dam team and is more recognized globally than the name San Antonio...:lmao

You're just jumpin all over the place huh?

"Kobe's a global icon! Scoreboard!"
Ok, but we're talking about playing basketball
"But, but, I was talking about playing basketball. Kobe's the greatest!"
No, you weren't
"Oh yea, well San Antonio sucks!"

Once again, typical.

What's San Antonio got to do with anything?........ This was a thread on a basketball forum about basketball. More specifically Kobe Bryant's underwhelming statistics over his career in the NBA Finals. You're bragging about winning popularity contests with the judges being the ignorant masses.... I could care less about those. You wouldn't see much value in 'em either if you were a real basketball fan, and not a high school girl.

Keep ridin that Kobe dick!

the global icon status is because of titles not stats...although one could argue it's because of stats as well....either way he's the most prolific and dynamic talent the NBA has seen since MJ decided to start a career pimping Hanes underwear...

Dro210
06-08-2010, 12:34 AM
Ok, that has nothing to do with anything we've said, and Kobe's popularity being based on titles and stats is so untrue anyway, but ok... So the Knicks are global icons based on titles and stats too? No, if anything it's because they're New York. They're big money. They're hype machine material. I could be wrong, but I don't even think they're really that globally popular in today's age, but just entertaining your logic here. C'mon, be real...

Lebron is the most dynamic talent. Duncan/Shaq are the most prolific players..... This legend of Kobe people are falling for is mostly made up.... Mike made himself. Mike made the NBA what it is (for better and worse). Mike MADE Nike. Mike invented the highlight as we know it. The NBA, their affiliates (ESPN included), Adidas, and now Nike, made Kobe what he is because they were scared to lose (or in Adidas' case, trying to create) what Mike built once he left for good. I'm not saying Kobe isn't a very good player, because he is, that's just real, but let's keep it all the way real. He would have never been the player he's thought of today amongst the hype by so many ignorant people if he didn't have that type of higher power pushing his name/image the whole way... and oh yeah, there's that guy Shaq. Lebron is the same way, except he ended up in Cleveland and not LA, and they haven't been able to get him any rings to go with the hype yet.
