View Full Version : I just realized something about the Spurs Playoff Exits...

I just realized something man. Since the Spurs won their first Championship eleven years ago back in 1999, only three teams have eliminated the Spurs from the Playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns. Those are the three only teams to knock us out in the Playoffs in eleven fucking years.

Is that crazy or what?

Not really.

Most regular season wins in the NBA since the 98-99 season:

1. Spurs 663
2. Mavs 622
3. LA 618
4. PHX 572

Because I refuse to pay $ for reporters to do their job by providing free press on espn.com, etc. I'm NOT an 'Insider'. They are suggesting that TParks is now tradeable and could land the Spurs as high as #2 seed in the Draft. Are there Any 'Insiders' that care to inform us 'Outsiders'?

And during that time both LA and PHX had years when they missed the playoffs.

My Point? The eastern conference absolutely sucks.

Here's another interesting stat:

Over the last TWENTY NINE years (since 1982), the Western Conference Finals have consisted of at least one of the following four teams: Lakers, Spurs, Jazz, or Suns.

It doesn't mean anything other than all four of those teams have been pretty darn consistent, but I find it interesting none-the-less.

And in the Dunca era, every team that's knocked us out has lost in the next round.

Except Dallas, who beat us in the 2nd round and then beat the Suns to get to the NBA finals in 2006.

Duncan scored 20 points in the first half to help the Spurs take a 47-34 lead. In the last three minutes of the half, Duncan made two layups, a tip-in, and two free throws.

Dallas' 11 points in the first quarter and 23 points in the second were playoff lows for the franchise, as was the 34-point first half.

Steve Nash was 0-for-4 in the first half and never got off a shot in the second. Dirk Nowitzki was 0-for-5 in the first half and finished with nine points.

I was reading through that link and noticed the bolded part....

Kind of reminded me of most recent Spurs-Mavs game 6, when we knocked them out of the playoffs.

Held the Mavs to 8 points in the first quarter, and 26 points in the second quarter, holding them to that same franchise low.

Spurs > Mavs :flag:

Actually, it's happenend multiple times:

1998 - lost to Utah (who then beat LA in WCF and lost to Bulls in Finals)
2001 - lost to Lakers (went on to win title)
2002 - lost to Lakers (went on to win title)
2004 - lost to Lakers (who then beat Minn in WCF and lost to Pistons in Finals)
2006 - As you stated above

2007 - Spurs win title
2008 - Lakers eliminate Spurs and get curbstomped in the Finals by Boston
