If Ginobili's nuts hadn't shrivelled up on the FT line, then we might have won the game.
Ball should have went to Robert Horry, period.

Sure they shoulda passed it around the horn with only 2.9...WTF??? It was Tims shot he's gotta make it.

Didnt Ginobili get the off rebound to get those fts? Better than Duncan putting up soft shit or getting fouled.

Why Pop thinks Duncan is a clutch shot maker is beyond me.
There's a guy on our team named Robert Horry that was BORN for those kind of situations.

if duncans nuts didnt shrivled up and ginobili wasnt still comming off the bench like some chump we wouldve won the game.

Yeah. I agree. Up 2-0 on the road, go for the win!
Horry has been there many times. Shoulda shot a three.

Pop started the play off right by passing it into Duncan, but it should have been Ginobili cutting to the line for a feed from Duncan for the winner.
Duncan still has no lift on his shots, and with the white gorilla on his back I don't know what the fuck Pop was thinking.
Well, I know. Same shit he's thought in this situation for the last 6 years, with largely the same results.

What a crazy, weird game:
1) Spurs go 18-32 at the FT line---with MANU of all people missing clutch FTs!
2) Tim Duncan misses game winning shot with a clear look
3) Jerome James goes 7-7 from the field---ALL DUNKS!

Yall are crazy... that was an excellent look for Duncan at the end, it just didn't go- don't act like he's never beat the buzzer. I will take that look every time at the end of the game. One point loss, fourteen missed free throws- they will be back in a big way on sunday. Seattle aint shit.

That shot was weak. Barely hit the rim. Either that or it was way off target, and it looked it on the release.

With all due respect to big shot Rob, he did have a chance only 20 28 seconds earlier to give us the lead and bricked it.

05-13-2005, 12:49 AM
Good point tex, but what better way to make up for it then hitting the winner.
Also, I dont think it was a bad play by Tim. I thought that his last shot in the 0.4 game was a bad play, but it went in. If Tims shot tonight goes in, we win, or tie (wtheck was the score?!?!?!?! :lol).

I agree. Giving it to Duncan was such a huge risk that shouldn't have been taken considering Duncan's 4th quarter play. It was mediocre at best. He really was rattled.

SHUT UP people, yall dont know shit
Duncan had a perfectly good look, he had perfectly good lift, it was a perfectly good play
noone was at fault here
it just didnt go in
just stop whining, we'll be back on sunday and we will win
you people forget that we as a team blow ass at last possessions, at least we got a shot off this time, not only that but it was a GOOD LOOK.

You're crazy. The shot before that he hit the side of the backboard.
And I can count the number of times Tim has won a game for us at the buzzer in the playoffs on one finger. I can't count the number of times Pop has pissed the game away by going to him.
That shot was weak. Ball should have been in Manu's hands.
he had perfectly good lift,
No, he didn't. He barely got off the ground, and barely got front rim.
BTW, you don't think that Vitaly would have fouled Duncan if he made a stronger move to the bucket? That play was high reward, little risk.

it was a good look but the shot wasn't close, bricked on the rim but i guess we should be happy we got a shot...even though no one is for good reason.

God some of you guys are scorchingly stupid. "Don't go to the hall of famer with two MVPs and two rings. He sucks."
Horry couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in the second half. Manu was too much of a pussy to go to the hole in the final three quarters of the game. Why would you expect him to do it at the end of the game when he didn't do it any other time? Duncan had good position and will make that shot more often than not. He was the only one being aggressive and the only one getting shots.

Only shot Manu would have made was a floater if he got enough space. If he took a fadeaway or jumper, he would have barely grazed rim.

All our stars missed some free throws in the 4th. And we missed some shots where we had decent looks, but after all the mugging Seattle gave us, we were only one behind at the end and could have won if Tim makes that little shot he's so good at at the end.
We can still make this series a rout with a good win in the next game.

Why are we peeing in our overalls? Because we disagree with you? Talk about a lame take...
Look, I'll take Manu on the last play of the game. He's a lot more likely to either get the bucket or get fouled, go the lane and nut up for two free throws than a hobbling Tim Duncan who got the shit beat out of him all night by Fortson, James, Evans, Collison, and Potapenko.
Tim has a proven history of being completely worn out at the end of games where he gets beat on like tonight. And the first thing to go is his FT shooting, followed closely by any resemblance of a vertical.
I know all about Tim's credentials, thank you. I've also watched him enough to know when he's worn out at the end of games. Tonight was one of those nights.

Tom_Foolery
05-13-2005, 01:10 AM
I'm not saying it was a bad shot, but Duncan was shooting horribly in the 4th and couldn't hit a FT, so it was very possible that if he got any closer, they would've fouled Duncan and made him go to the line to win it.
I personally tonight would not want Duncan taking those FTs to win the game. He probably would've missed both the way he was playing.

Nice reasoning. How many games come down to the buzzer in the playoffs? Not many. Tim Duncan-Mvp, perennial All-Star Two time NBA champion and the unquestioned leader of the franchise...I'm guessing there aren't too many analysts or professionals who cover the game who would agree with your expert assessment of the last 2.9 seconds. But what does anyone else know? You are a dude on a message board who studies this shit. Good for you.

2.9 is pretty quick for an inbound then for the inbounder to run and grab and get a solid jumper.
Horry had Rashard Lewis on him on the perimiter so his open shot was gone.

Then he isn't very fearless, is he? He also missed a free throw with 29 seconds left. Let's face it; there wasn't anyone playing clutch wearing black tonight except for number 12.
I just watched that last play again, and the only one on the team that was open for a jumper was Barry in the corner. Neither Horry nor Manu spotted up. Instead both went to the basket and their dfenders collapsed on Duncan, who pivoted away from a triple team to get off a damn good shot. Therefore those of you that thought Horry or Ginobili should have gotten the last shot are completely stupid. Anybody that would rather have Barry shoot a three, please speak up now.

how people had easily forgotten Duncan's clutch shots in 2003. e.g. last season game vs. Utah over Malone.
And Manu's lost ball turnover in a Denver game when Duncan didn't play bec. of injury.
Hello!!!!
it''s over...
Manu or Duncan w/ ALL THOSE MISSED FTs = LOSS
BTW, i just want you to take a peek on Spurs' Stars numbers tonight;
Duncan 23pts;11rbds;1 asst;1 TO; 4 blocks
Manu 18pts; 6rbs; 2 asst; 3 TO; 1 stl.
Parker 18pts;5 rbds; 8 assts; 2 TO; 1 stl.
Nazr's 7 pts; 3 rbds.only could be the difference
...besides the Spurs' missed FTs'
TIM DUNCAN IS STILL THE BEST PLAYER. Stats-wise.
