i like his message. i think it would serve his congregation if he would point out the fact that all of those men, while very talented, should not be worshipped, as they most often are, for what they do on a basketball court.
unfortunately, this is a trap that too many of us fall into.
and he should point out that one's greatest accomplishments on a basketball court are nothing when compared to ones smallest accomplishment in the name of God.
he should dissect the meaning of the words, affirmative action.
it means a positive action. Good actions. Yes, he speaks of practicing math, and other subjects, but unless it is just not captured in the video clip, he should preach of how everyone of us should practice Good actions, affirmative actions, in our daily lives.
if you want me to answer what is wrong with black folks, i will answer that there is nothing wrong with black folks that isn't wrong with white folks, asian folks, latin folks, etc.
it's a human problem, not a racial one.
we have gotten too used to worshipping false idols.
How many kids, of all races, are out there saying I wanna be like Mike? Kobe? Lebron?
How many kids out there are saying, I wanna be like God?
We are made in his image afterall, are we not?
If i had to say one thing that is stacked against black people, i would point out the obvious which is that most of their role models are false teachers.
The ones that glorify money, sex, drugs, cars, violence, hatred...everything that is for self pleasure.
And the kids of all races follow. And the parents of all races allow.
I'm glad President Obama is in office. I think he has good intentions and I think he is a man of integrity. He definitely provides a more positive option for a role model for black people and all people alike.
That said, he should not be worshipped either.
Good stuff BRHornet. :toast
