No word if this is a live action trailer for a game or if its a teaser for a movie.... Being that its right around E3 I'd say its a new game.

It's so good. It does look like a game teaser but damn.. I hope it's a movie too. It was extremely well produced to simply be for a game
We'll see
Looks pretty awesome. Hope it's a movie, but I could see it being a game trailer.

My reaction..... I can't wait! Hopefully it is better than the first ones. I think they made a mistake by introducing too many characters too quickly in the previous movies.
It better be a movie.

If it is a movie, Im glad they kill off that homo Johnny Cage right off the bat. Fuck that queer.
Maybe it's just me but if you pause it right at 5:01 when he throws the file down for Shang Tsung it looks like Steven Segal.

To me the guy looks nothing like Steven Segal... but this looks awesome

Looks pretty sweet... I wish they'd stop using the token lines from MK, though. So campy.

lol He'd actually make a badass shang tsung.
I hope to God this is a new game. I lost interest after MK II/MK3. I'm not into the huge, bouncy cartoonish characters of the newer MKs (if I wanted that crap, I'd play Street Fighter). They need to go back to the old 2d stuff with better fatalities

Looks like it's a sales pitch to movie studios.

Can't believe you guys think that looked good. I thought it was fucking horrible for a movie and I hope its only a game.

It's obviously not a trailer... it's a short of what it could be with the nod from the big guys, I'm sure it would be way better. For a short, it was good.

I'm optimistic about this movie... after reading the interview it seems more that Tancharoen wants to make the movie from what he loved about the game, and that's not necessarily the same as everyone else's... for example, Baraka in my mind could've been made better... you can barely tell it's him when in the game he's memorable.
It seems that he wants to focus on certain things and wants to make it more realistic than fantasy... like would he have Scorpion throwing his hooks or whatever it's called with a crossbow? seriously, i think of this stuff..
What's subzero's story? is he gonna be like Mr. Freeze with some sort of ice suit?

Whatever Sub-Zero's story is in the movie, he's about to get that ass whipped by Scorpion.

The videogame that introduced Fatalities to the gaming masses is going back to its gory roots. Warner Bros. Interactive announced today a rebooted Mortal Kombat is in development by NetherRealm Studios.
Warners promises a "triumphant return" to the franchise's mature gameplay. To prove that point, the publisher said Fatalities are back and in more gory detail than ever before.
"We are bringing the Mortal Kombat franchise back to gamers with the talented NetherRealm Studios team creating the game fans long to play," said Martin Tremblay, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Re-establishing the brand with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat innovates on past games while staying true to the brand's legendary characters and fighting style."
An all new graphics engine is being used to reinvent the classic 2D fighting mechanic, and franchise creator Ed Boon is on board as creative director.
"We can't wait for players to get their hands on Mortal Kombat," Boon said. "This game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever."
The game will also feature a new four-player tag team mode, online multiplayer, and a roster of fighters that includes Mortal Combat's iconic characters.
The game is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is set to launch next year.
