so if everyone starts going with 16 team superconferences, exactly how many superconferences will there be? Will the NCAA force every FBS team to join one of 6 or 7 conferences?

Seems to me there would be 4, (maybe 5) that would have teams that would legitmately have shots at being national title contenders....

which would mean 16 x 5 = 80 teams.

the way I'm currently seeing it, about 40 teams will have to figure something out amongst themselves and I wonder what schools will get left in the dust.

pretty bad situation overall. lets just hope the big 12 sticks together.

even if the Big12 sticks together in the short term, it seems to me that a conference somewhere will make the move to join with powerhouses from another conference which will then force the hands of other schools/conferences.

It might not be, but 4-5 16 team superconferences seems inevitable to me.

You're probably right its just sad to see it come to this. College Sports (Football in general) is by far the best sport out there and by the major programs (like texas) acting this way is really hurting the sport.

How exactly is Texas acting? How are they "really hurting the sport?"
