According to sources only peripherally aware of the World Cup, milkshakeballa's infuriating behavior first became apparent during a Super Bowl viewing party last February when he repeatedly used the phrase "American football" to describe the action on the field. In recent weeks, milkshakeballa has also begun referring to the supposed suspense involved in choosing the players for the U.S. "side," and has struck up several extended but one-sided conversations concerning figures such as "Kaka" and "Ronaldinho," generally mystifying and alienating everyone he has come into contact with.
Yesterday milkshakeballa sent an office-wide e-mail about the controversy surrounding the new World Cup ball, and the message was instantly deleted by all of his coworkers.
Son, this is not the NBA.

fuck England and their rotten toothed players.
This is probably the only game I root for USA
"Brazil 1950:
English football had long borne an air of superiority and its dignitaries had scoffed at the value of the World Cup, never doubting that they boasted the world's best team. To say that it fell flat on its face would be an understatement. A routine 2-0 win over Chile was followed by arguably England's most embarrassing defeat ever - 1-0 to the USA in the northern industrial town of Belo Horizonte.
The decisive goal was scored, somewhat luckily, by Haitian immigrant Joe 'Larry' Gaetjens, who later sadly fell victim to the terror regime of François 'Papa Doc' Duvalier in his country of origin. The result was such a shock at the time that many newspaper in readers in England actually thought the scoreline was a misprint of 10-1. After losing to Spain, England were out of the tournament, and the arrogance that came with them was removed forever in just a week. "

This is fairly accurate. I actually kind of hate soccer (fun to play, boring to watch), but I'll probably watch part or most of the games the U.S. is playing. Not saying I'll love it, but it might beat staring at the countdown timer on nbadraft.net. Barely. USA 2, Lobster-backs 0. Homer pick, I don't even know the names of our players.
My sister once asked her husband why they didn't try to enroll their son in a junior soccer league. He answered, 'Because he might like it.' He told me a comment he heard from someone once: 'The worst day in a father's life is when his son's soccer coach tells him the boy has potential.' :lol

Do people actually think this will be an interesting match and not an English massacre? I lol'ed so hard at the fucking ABC commentators at half-time on game 4, saying that this is the most anticipated match in the entire world cup (lmao), and that england vs. USA is like lakers vs. celtics times a thousand (LMAO!).
Americans are so funny sometimes, it's kinda sad. They just can't take being irrelevant at anything
HarlemHeat37
06-12-2010, 12:35 PM
It's not really about actually believing it though, they just really need to hype it up..they need to say things like that to get viewers into the game, since this sport isn't as popular here..the casual fan isn't going to watch 90 minutes of action that becomes slow at times, unless he's really into the hype..
NuGGeTs-FaN

Look, for those Americans like myself who actually enjoy this game, it is a big fucking deal. Beating a country with which we have so much history is so much sweeter than defeating Spain or Mexico or some other random country.
To say the US is irrelevant is ridiculous. That may have been the case before 02', but is certainly not the case now. I'm not going to pretend that the US is more talented or better than the Brits in any way(except at the keeper position), but they absolutely have a chance if they play well. The roster is filled with guys who have big-time overseas experience, so it's not like the 90 or 94 teams that were badly overmatched practically every time they stepped onto the pitch.
Now, add in the propensity for England to choke, and the enormous pressure that country places on it's side, and you certainly have the ingredients for a US result.
I don't expect the US to win (as much as I'd like that to happen), but I also don't expect it to be an embarrassment.

Rugby is slowly gaining popularity, especially in the college ranks. Lack of a viable league will hamstring any serious development beyond the amateur ranks though. Very cool game

Random very probable predictions:
1. anyways it really don't matter ... brazil has one of the most balanced squads in years. Since 1994 they didn't play so well defensively and anybody in his right mind knows that even with 11 defenders they are a powerhouse offense (maicon & alves are better finishers than alot of GOOD strikers, ever seen lucio dribble? :toast)
So be on the look out for brasil at this cup, they have size, technique, balanced style, balanced roster, maybe best defense, stacked offense both individually and team style (they don't call em samba boys for nothing) and they play TOGETHER (as a team)
2. spain are a mentally weak team, don't see them as favorites (history + conf cup example + euro example where russia gave them a scare). Their deffense
3. portugal are a joke (lmao ronaldo never passes .. he makes kobe look like fucking magic johnson regarding the willingness to share a ball :lmao ).
4. algeria will be a HARD nut to crack
5. Germany will again grow as the tournament gets further with their no-nonsense style and most of all GRIT (think of them as the celts bench :lol)
6. france has no leader .. sky is blue
7. italy will be 1/8 at least .. people who watch soccer for more than 6-7 years understand why this is possible
8. argentina just blew away a golden generation with maradona's idiotic coaching. They'll do some damage but no zanetti, cambiasso, veron at 35, shaky defense .. it'll cost them
9. look out for south american teams .. the cup is not in europe and history tells a very relevant story
10. england has NO chance to win it all .. stop smoking the pipe, i don't care who they have on their team if they can't play like one
11. usa is the most overhyped team in the tournament... frankly i see them NOT passing the group stage or barely sneaking into 16s. Algeria will give them hell cause us can't hold midfiled against a good pressing side.
12. netherlands ALWAYS but ALWAYS have one bad game. They simply can't maintain consistency. Look at all the tournaments, all the games. They make great streaks of awesome play and then they lay an egg (generaly in the elimination games where they face good opposition => elimination)
