I found some And1s that had a traction pattern I like and they were cheap. These...

They played ok, but after 3 days, the heel on my dominant foot started hurting after playing. Figured I was playing too much for an old fart. A couple days off and the pain came back. Finally did a search and found that shoes with poor support can do this.

Today I threw on my old Reebok's feet feel just fine after playing.

On closer inspection I realized the thickness around the heel was only about 3/8", most shoes are well in excess of 1/2"....

Never have a I bought such a crappy shoe, last And1 shoe I'll ever buy. And a lesson for me regarding cheaping out on shoes. I'm just glad though it's the shoe and not some injury that would linger.

edit: btw I'm up for suggestions on shoes in the 50-70 range. be shoe shoppin' tomorrow. I'm not even going to give these old shoes to charity/goodwill, don't want to give some poor kid foot problems.

I've never tried out any cheaper kinds..it also depends on how much hooping you do..I have a pair of basketball shoes for the gym, and one for the streets..I went with the Lites for indoors, and Jordan 23s for the street, they're both really quality shoes..

If you play at least 3-4 times a week at a competitive level, you definitely need to spend some good $ on them IMO, not too cheap..

Overview:
The Nike Air Max Bizness is the first Nike Basketball Team shoe that is exclusive to Eastbay. Nike has teamed up with the company started by two high school coaches, Art Juedes and Rick Gering. Once again, Eastbay is benefiting from the technology that Nike has to offer. The Nike Air Max Bizness is a solid shoe from heal to toe and performs well on the court.
Style/Design:
Most notably, attention is drawn to the Air Max Bizness shoes because of the shinny outer assisted with the throwback theme. The Nike Air Max Bizness uses a unique combo of Nike technologies including Air-Sole unit in the heel and Phylon running the full length of the mid-sole. After slipping on an Air Max Bizness you’ll feel the Zoom Air unit in the forefoot allowing for comfort, stability and quick cuts. A feature we don’t see on many Nike shoes is the Nubuck on the toe and tongue really gives the Air Max Bizness a unique look. As for durability, Nike triple stitched this shoe giving it a longer life. The shoe isn’t at nimble and quick as some people like because its weight is almost 17 ounces which is heavy for today’s basketball shoe standards. Key highlights of this shoe is uniqueness, durability, support and price.

My coworker bought some 10 dollar Starbury's from Steve and Barrys and was going on how cheap they were. He wore them once and threw them away. ROFL

Thanks, I'll add this to my list. I can tell from the pic the heel padding is much better than on the once I bought. I play outdoors on concrete around 4 days a week. Not that competitive. I mean we play hard, but we suck as in picture the age range going from the early 20s to a few guys in their 40s.

I'm just dumbfounded by how quickly a bad shoe can cause problems. The only other time I really had problems was from shin splints and that was from playing on worn out shoes.

lol...I'm 30..I know how you feel. Still play as often as I can. I feel my jumpshot is a lot better now than it used to be, but I don't have as much stamina. Oh well...it's a hell of a lot of fun..lol

I own a lot of shoes, and I can comfortably say these are Top 3 I have ever worn, and they can be found pretty cheap occasionally.

Triple Threat ftw in pick up basketball. Works every single time on anyone.
True...well..depending on who you're up against.

I care about traction, but mostly about cushioning after witnessing the damage done by shitty shoes. I never found a shoe really change my game outside of hampering it by making my feet hurt.

Put Kobe in flipflops and he'd still kill 90% of the NBA guards.

Nah it works on anyone. Quick people, Short, tall, fast, slow. Its works on anyone. Jab Long dribble, jab jump shot, etc. It all works on anyone.
yeah...I guess it can...unless you have the same move every time...I play with a guy who thinks he fools everyone with it, but the only time he gets into the triple threat, he pulls up for a jumpshot. He never changes it up...too easy.

Bizness has some pretty good traction. I went off the cushion thing you were talking about earlier...good cushioning...traction's good too.

Those hyperdunks at some Finish Line stores are $50 now. They were originally $90, most places cut their prices to $70-80. But go to Finish Line and they're $50, well at least the Finish Line stores here in Michigan they are.

Hyperdunk lows are ok. If you can afford the Kobe V's, buy that...but if you cant, hyperdunks are fine.
