I think it's time for another off-season thread to appreciate the BIG FUNDAMENTAL. The best PF of all time who is still the most underrated and underappreciated power forward of all time.

Tim Duncan played in 78 games out of 82 last season which shows how durable and effective he still is... 4 :lobt: :lobt: :lobt: :lobt: later he is still the backbone of this organization.

Give a thumbs up :tu to the greatest player to ever put on silver and black and the greatest PF to ever play the game.

From a PER standpoint he's the fifth best player in the league although he's averaging considerably less minutes than younger stars.

He also set a career high in rebounding (27) and nearly met it again later in the season.

Hope threads like this will come out again whenever somebody mentions Tim Duncan's decline in basketball performance due to his ageing.

And the thing is that this was his worst rebounding year ever. Timmy you the man!

For anyone that may not know, SpursTalk has a Duncan Forum. We're all Duncan all the time.

Click on 'Mini Forums' in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Hope to see you there. :)

Without the presence of Duncan, I'm confident in proclaiming that there would be "0" championship banners hanging from the rafters of the AT&T Center.

Over the past 25-30 years or so, there have only been a handful of teams that have entered that great championship fraternity:

Fakers
Sixers
Celtics
Pistons
Bulls
Rockets
Heat
Spurs

That small list should be proof as to how tough it has been for other teams to break through and win a championship. Championship team dynasties, when kept together, have lasted for a bit. Amidst it all, the Spurs have 4. Obviously, Duncan has been at the epicenter of it all.

No matter what happens from here, we should all be very grateful.

Underappreciated, sure. Underrated? Nope. It's general knowledge among most basketball fans that Duncan is the best PF of all time.

Too bad a lot of people, especially in the media don't consider him top 10 all-time regardless of position. I personally have him at #6.

Wish for another great year, and another ring.

But I'm pretty happy with four championships. Thank you, Mr. Duncan.

Exactly. While the 'greatest PF of all time' tag is highly complimentary in a way it could be perceived as an underhanded compliment. Tim's not exactly a true Center ala Shaq, Wilt, Russell, Parrish, 5-0, or Kareem, but he's still one of the best big men to ever play the game. Tim has been damn good for over a decade.

It's too bad he never developed a killer crossover like Iverson. Must be the island work ethic coming through.
