The World Cup Will Drone On

JOHANNESBURG — The loud trumpets called vuvuzelas will continue to be allowed for the time being at the World Cup, despite complaints from some international broadcasters, players and fans, the tournament’s organizing committee said Monday.

I thought they were cool for about a half of a game. Can't get rid of them fast enough.

It makes no sense to go into someone else's country and start demanding they do things a different way. Don't want to hear that shit? Then don't have the World Cup in South Africa where that's a tradition.

They're really not traditional at all... I mean, unless you call less than 10 years old 'traditional'... Same horns have been in use in Mexico and South America since the 70's, but not fucking every fan blowing one... that's new.

Sometimes soccer players are just such huge bitches though. They complain about this, they complain about the ball, they fucking dive and act like no others and it gets annoying. If NBA players flopped the way soccer players dive I don't think we'd ever finish a fucking game.

Anyway, fans watching at home bitching about this amaze me even more. How the fuck does it bother you? Are you really incapable of simply tuning it out? I don't even notice it. I think its one thing for the players to bitch that they can't hear each other, but when fans watching at home bitch I'm really amazed.

The same people who get annoyed by this shit are probably the same people who get trolled easily. I bet koriwhat doesn't even hear buzzing when he tunes in he just here's a faint LOL CALF TATS.

IDK if you generally watch football a lot or not, but it's not that the horns are necessarily annoying. The reason I hate them is because they drown out the sounds of chanting, cheering and singing that make football the beautiful sport it is to me.

For example lol

Fuck I miss Maraca.... I can't even fathom what that place would be like if Brasil played the final there in 2014 :wow
Also, this video makes me lol @ the "[insert sport here] will be more popular than 'soccer' in [insert short amount of time here]" crowd

Not a real fan of the Vuvuzelas, but I usually tune it out in the first 5 minutes of each match. Doesn't bother me much.

But some of these players are such whiners:

I can't hear myself play with the Vuvuzelas :cry

The ball is too light :cry

GMAFB. Already lining up the excuses.

MannyIsGod

I agree the loss of the chants to the buzzing is not a good thing, but really I'm just sick of the whining already.

Some of the actual concerns with vuvuzuelas:

World Cup horn risks permanent damage to hearing: study (http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5j3vbSMaqg_pgOuWHjwPOeqNKXA0Q)

Are vuvuzelas a safety risk? (http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=6&click_id=4&art_id=nw20100527160821173C206441)

Study: Vuvuzela could spread colds and flu (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i8urs7EHo1bO0nBhFxxPOGEd6JtAD9G8H9L00)

I'm not sure you can pull it off without ruining 5.1 audio, and I think that's why ESPN has not done it. But I think they can do it on the broadcasting end if they're inclined.

ElNono

Another option would be to include a vuvuzuela-free audio feed on the SAP channel

Quit bitching. If you're so good at your sport, it shouldn't fucking matter who's doing what in the stands.

This is akin to NBA players complaining about distractions from fans using thunder-stix behind the backboard during free throw attempts or complaining about cowbells at Arco Arena back in the day.

no, its akin to an NBA coach being unable to communicate with his players because someone with an air horn was blowing right next to them.

They use vuvuzela-like instruments at CFL games. Like 2 summers ago I went to the Skydome to watch a game and a whole class of annoying children were blowing Vuvuzelas non-stop. You could hear it around the stadium as well.

Haha, didn't know that--I highly doubt the NFL would put up with it. The biggest thing we have in football stadiums now are the towel-waving (Steelers with the Terrible Towels, and Kyle Field with the 12th Man Towels). Oh, and those weird shaker things the Alabama fans use lol.

After the MLB flop, no way Roger Goodell goes for it in the NFL lol

It's funny because the Blue Jays play in the same stadium but they explicitly ban the Vuvuzelas :lol
