I do!

My favorite Tommy Nunez story is from the 2007 playoffs when the San Antonio Spurs were able to get past the Phoenix Suns in the second round. Of course, what many fans didn't know was that Phoenix had someone working against them behind the scenes. Nunez was the group supervisor for that playoff series, and he definitely had a rooting interest.
Nunez loved the Hispanic community in San Antonio and had a lot of friends there. He had been a referee for 30 years and loved being on the road; in fact, he said that the whole reason he had become a group supervisor was to keep getting out of the house. So Nunez wanted to come back to San Antonio for the conference finals. Plus, he, like many other referees, disliked Suns owner Robert Sarver for the way he treated officials. Both of these things came into play when he prepared the referees for the games in the staff meetings. I remember laughing with him and saying, "You would love to keep coming back here." He was pointing out everything that Phoenix was able to get away with and never once told us to look for anything in regard to San Antonio. Nunez should have a championship ring on his finger.

I just hope Galileo and Lefty see it, I know they both love it since they believe everything Donaghy says is true.

I have always said--that an impartial agency---should be conducting an official investigation of all these allegations---

even IF it turns out that DONAGHY is just a fraud---all by himself---there is STILL enough out there to warrant a true intensive investigation---

I am ALL for this---even if----NO --ESPECIALLY--if the SPURS benefited from shady dealings---

wanna see some proof of crooked NBA shit?

donaghy's allegations are ones that ANYONE can make. no one needs "insider" information to say what he's been saying. and that's all they are. allegations.

..well..yes AND no...

they ARE allegations---but then you have to think for yourself----

going back to the lakers/kings series---which--IF you witnessed with your own eyes---

and you have to think for yourself---

I SAW the series---I saw the calls---I SAW the replays...

call them allegations if you want but----if you SAW the series---you would be inclined to believe that---

there is something MORE to this

this is APART--from all the OTHER examples that are out there...

Well yeah but it's hard to believe everything he says, and if you can only believe small pieces (like that 2002 was fixed but 2007 wasn't) then c'mon...I understand though, it's conceivable that the league would put LA in the finals again, but it doesn't make sense to have one of the most boring Finals ever just so a ref can enjoy a couple more days in San Antonio.

Donaghy himself doesn't even believe that. You can tell by how he sets up the story. He's just trying to spin everything Nunez said/did to make it look biased for the Spurs. I'm sure he probably pointed out a bunch of things the Suns did because the Spurs execute far superior to the Suns and make a great effort not to foul. TBH, more referees should instruct others this way. ie 2006 Dallas, when Dirk Nowitzki, a soft jump shooter, was going to the line against the Spurs 20+ times a game.

Seems like very little motive tbh.

Phoenix or SA are similar during early May. Maybe a few more mexicans in SA but still, Phoenix is a bigger citty I'd say with more opportunities to go out and enjoy the weather. Was his hate for Sarver that large?

Lol you still bitter that "the great Tim Duncan" couldn't guard him without getting tired/fouling so they put the much shorter Bowen on him? No wonder he lit y'all up tbh
