Belhadj backing for James
16 Jun 2010
Algeria midfielder Nadir Belhadj believes his Portsmouth team-mate David James should start in goal for England when the countries meet on Friday.
England face the Algerians in Cape Town in the second match in Group C after Robert Green's blunder gifted the USA their equaliser in the 1-1 draw last weekend.
Belhadj said: "For me it was a surprise not to see him in goal for England against the USA.
"I think James is a far better goalkeeper and much more experienced, and he should be in goal against us later this week.
"Green made a very bad mistake and I can't see how he can carry on."
Um...yeah, loke Chaouchi didn't fuck up on that goal

I don't get why Fabio has a hard on for Green and James.
You have Players A,B and C.
Player A was on the team which finished bottom of the premier league and letting in 66 goals.
Player B was on the team that was 5 points from being relegated and that defense let in 66 goals.
Player C was on the team which was newly promoted and managed to secure 9th in the league whilst letting in 47 goals and winning the premier leagues goalkeeper of the season award.
God dammit Fabio you dumbshit.

lol the game is 90 minutes with a single 15 min break .. that's approximately 5-6 nfl games. no need for timeout.
Furthermore, in soccer the medium distance covered by any player is 10km (at world cup ofc)

So England would have to win 2-0 if USA won?
If England wins, they are in.
If US wins, they are in.
If Slovenia wins, they are in with top seed.
If Algeria wins, they need England to lose or tie.
If US and England win, England will have to beat Slovenia by 4 goals to win top seed, otherwise US gets top seed.
If England wins and Algeria-US tie, England is top seed Slovenia is 2 seed.

hmm, not very clear, at least to me.
for slovenia to qualify: win or tie; if they lose, usa / argelia must tie.
for usa to qualify- win, if they tie they need england to tie or lose.
for england to qualify- must win, if they tie or lose they are gone.
for algeria to qualify- must win AND england must lose.
The US has the same points as england but they are definitely in the driver seat. they have the same goal difference but 2nd tie breaker is total goals and the US is up 2.
this group is pretty screwed though considering they are paired with the very difficult group D. i'd pick both group D teams over their group C rivals
