God, Jim Forsyth is a tool.

If they pre-empt Rush for this so-called BIG news city reaction to the BRAC list I'll be pissed.

I would call people losing jobs big news.

What would happen to BAMC? I don't think they'd shut down the best burn unit in the country, would they?

I was referring to the idiotic press conference they carried from 10:35-11:03. The news was already reported, this was just a bunch of politicos slapping each other on the backs and saying "Whew!" It literally got to the point where they would introduce another speaker and he would say "Well, everybody already said everything I wanted to say".

A complete waste of airtime. I'm not a Glenn Beck fan, but if I was, I'd be a little torked off.

overall, san antonio looks to be getting more jobs than it lost. ft sam is gaining and one other base.

fair enough.

I don't think BAMC is affected since its not part of Brooks City Base. I think it falls under the umbrella of Fort Sam.

BAMC is Brooke Army Medical Center (it's on Ft. Sam), different from Brooks City Base.

Brook City Base is now a private-sector business and technology center.

Brooks will lose 2,000 or so jobs in 6 years but with the current growth in retail at the Military Dr./Goliad Blvd. Intersection, they'll get those jobs back in 2 years tops, maybe sooner.

Never been to Brooks. The biggest news for me is they're trying to shutdown the Sub Base in Groton. I used to live in Groton and have all kinds of memories of that place. Not only would that dismantle the submarine capital of the world, it would destroy the economy of SouthEastern Connecticut. I realize this doesn't really have anything to do with San Antonio, but there aren't a whole lot of CT sports forums out there :).

Overall, it was great news for SA.

Fort Sam will add 9,000 jobs.

BAMC will expand.

SA see a net gain of 3,000 plus jobs.
