Police report 2 arrests outside Staples Center (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-lakers-policing)
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck says “so far so good” outside Staples Center in the final moments of Game 7 of the NBA finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.
Police spokesman John Romero says there have been two arrests—both misdemeanors for drinking in public.
Police officers stood watch as a crowd began to grow on a street corner near the arena.
Several nearby roads and freeway off-ramps have been closed.
Police massed around the arena before the game, aiming to prevent a repeat of the violence that accompanied the Lakers’ victory last year.

Congrats Lakers! Way to go Kobe!!!
I'm glad we had a good competitive series. Nothing like a game 7.
Boston was tougher and scrappier than I imagined they would be. Played great D the entire series. KG in particular played really well. Rondo and Pierce had their moments, too bad Ray choked the series away.
I love seeing Kobe get #5. I hope all his haters choke on it.
I don't really know how I feel about seeing Ron Artest as an NBA Champion :bang
The only negative for me in the game is having to witness the ignorant ass Laker posters (they're not all stinky piles of poo, but most of them are) get to celebrate.

Putting my Laker hate aside, the Lakers deserve this. I started to doubt them at the end of the season but they really stepped it up in the playoffs.
Oh well at least Finley doesnt get another free ring. And KG wont be doing his growling act next season. And Pierce wont proclaim he's the best player in the world.

What a shame, I was pretty sure the Lakers would prevail coming in to this game, but the Celtics gave me some hope the way they played in the 1st half.
Perhaps the biggest difference in this series was home court in game 7, as the Lakers were delivered 20 more FT attempts.
Ray Allen should hang up his sneakers, one could make a case that he lost the series for the Celts.
As Spurs fans, we this phenomenon all too well. 30+ players are hard to count on by and large...

33% for the Lakers from the field? Is that the worst shooting percentage of a team to shoot in a Finals series clinching game? The Spurs had some ugly games in their Finals but they were never that shitty from the field. I know that a win is a win but I wouldn't be proud of my team shooting 33% from the field. Lakers are very lucky that they had help from the refs tonight. A sad thing about the FT totals is that the Celtics almost made 90 percent of their FTs while the Lakers only shot 68 percent.
What was up with Fisher having his hand on Stern's shoulder? Something going on between those two?

Not the league's best moment, considering Stern's "joke" about his dream final being the Lakers vs the Lakers.
Tonight is another example of why I think Kobe will retire with more rings than Jordan -simply because the league really, really really wants that to happen. They got a narrative they're trying to sell.

Considering the Spurs were "provided"* the entire careers of two inner-circle HOFers in the span of 8 years, do you really want to point out the luck of the Lakers?
*Provided in the sense of the root of the word, which is the same as the root of "providential," as in divinely granted.

Really? Pray tell which seasons those would be? The injured Duncan year in '00? The utterly destroyed by LA year in '01? How about the 4-1 series losses in '02, '08, and '09? This year's sweep?
Near as I can tell, the first one they'd "deserve" with more fortunate calls would be the '06 season. So you really want to invalidate the absolute high water mark of Mavs franchise history? You do realize that's what your whiny line of reasoning leads to, don't you?
Jacob1983
06-18-2010, 01:39 AM
If I recall, I stated the that the Spurs would have won between 8 to 10 titles if they had gotten the calls that the Lakers got. In order for that to happen, the Spurs would have to get help from the refs like the Lakers have in the past. Why can't Laker fans just admit that Stern and his zebras help their team?

Did I stutter?
I asked you which of those extra seasons they'd have won titles. You are reckoning an extra 4-6 titles. So, which seasons?
First on the list would obviously be 2006. Sorry Mavs, your modest franchise high-water mark just dipped even lower.

What a glorious nite. There was nothing like waking in the middle of nights and it would hit ya. Just rolled over and went back to sleep with those visions dancing in my gourd.
That loose ball up the left side late that went our way. That's the kinda shit that would never happen to Boston. It would always bounce their way. Not that nite.
That girl turning loose a scream as it got down to it.

Anyways, here was my initial prediction before the series started for game 7, and it still sticks.
Classic, spirited game between both teams, constantly going back and forth, although the Lakers will have a slight lead for most of the game. Pierce and Kobe will put on one of the best shows we have ever seen, but in the end, the Celitcs will make a couple more defensive stops, and Pierce will out-clutch Kobe and the Celtics will pull the victory out in the final 5-6 minutes of the game.
That's exactly what happens too
