Is it too late for me to get a game console? I've seen games like SF and Mk lately and my interest has been rising. Any of you know if there will be a new XBOX or Playstation coming out soon? I dont want to be like that kid who bought a nintendo a few months before super nintendo came out.

Thanks!

I think we still got a couple more years before the next set of consoles come out.

I just got a PS3 and even if new consoles came out in 2 years I doubt I'd grab one considering the price point will be getting close to 1k. I've gamed a good deal on my PS3 over the past few weeks but I'd say I've honestly used it just as much if not more for Netflix, as a media server, and for blue ray.

^^He brings up a good point about the price. When the next-gen consoles come out, I won't be buying one till at least a year later.

This isnt substantiated by anything, but I seriously doubt we see anything on the next playstation or xbox until 2012. The thing about a new generation of consoles is that the first year is generally an off year. It takes time for developers to figure out the hardware, and for manufacturers to come to a product line that wont crash on you. So, not too late to get one. You'll have nice back catalog of games to choose from, a lot of which you can get for cheap on the used market (craigslist, amazon, etc). If you had to choose between the two, I'd go with an xbox.

Objective, objective, objective...

:kingFanboy? Nah. A man with an opinion, yes. I own the PS3 and the Xbox, and personally I've been more satisfied with the latter. PS3 serves as my blue ray player, but I don't play many games on it. Whenever I have the option of buying a multiplatform game, I go microsoft, simply because that's what my friends have and I think it's got a better online infrastructure than the playstation.

Get the new Xbox 360 and mod it. And I'll sell you games. Just come down to South Central.

I think by next e3 new consoles will be announced and release the year after. Or they might just milk the 3D/motion controls for a couple more years.. who knows

Actually, you can stream netflix through ps3 now (plus, today, sony announced a pay feature for their online play). But still, get the 360. Everything DLC related comes out first for the 360, its arcade selection absolutely blows ps3s out of the water, there are better games for 360 general, the online community is bigger and more skilled, a hell of a lot more people own 360's- minus the Wii it is America's chosen console, hands down.

IMO, it isn't a hard decision at all. Especially with the brand new 360 model on the market. Drop that $299 and don't look back.

The 360 fixed one feature that it was sorely lacking, the built in wireless adapter, and an N on top of that. The pay for online play sucks, but can be worked around. And if PS3 is going to charge, then the only thing left for PS3 over 360 is Blu Ray.

Now, how badly do you want Blu Ray? Other than that, I'd go 360. In fact, I did go 360. I like the online experience better, even if I do have to pay.

But in all honesty, it becomes preference. It's not like the PS3 is a shitty console. FAR from it.

yah i already have bluray...but i dont mind having another one. Looks like most people i know have xbox's so it seems like thats the way to go if i want to play against them.
