Give Interplay credit for never giving up. The 27-year-old developer nearly went bust before it became entangled in a lengthy legal battle with Bethesda. All the while, the studio was hard at work on Project V13. Now, with its financial house in order and the lawsuit settled, Interplay has revealed Project V13 is, in fact, its Fallout MMO.

The game was unveiled last night via a teaser web site ( http://www.fallout-on-line.com/ ) featuring an old-timey sound track, what appear to be screenshots (provided in quick glimpses), and an invitation to join the beta for Fallout Online.

After getting an eviction notice from its landlord for unpaid rent in 2004, Interplay managed to stave off bankruptcy and in 2007 it began to right its financial ship with the sale of the Fallout franchise to Bethesda for $5.75 million.

As part of its Fallout agreement with Bethesda, Interplay earned licensee rights to produce a Fallout MMO. With money in pocket, the developer began work on Project V13. However, the licensee agreement required the MMO to be completed by 2010. With funding and other obligations lagging far behind, Bethesda sued Interplay in 2009 for violation of contract.

In April, Bethesda dropped the suit after the publisher and developer hammered out an agreement, and now it's official: Fallout Online is on the way. We'll keep you posted on any details that emerge from E3.

MMO's are the pinnacle of gaming imo. I dare not venture back into them (Ultima Online RIP) until I am in a retirement home though. Too addicting :depressed
