My host father in germany was almost that guy's size, but he was healthy. He jogged about 6 miles to and from work every day (weekday, that is). I am not saying that there are NO unhealthy people there, but I am saying that their fat people != our fat people for the most part.

The dog is probably the only he could of helped, it looks like the owner left it tied to the fence. The horse is huge and likely scared, it might kick if you get too close. The doe will run away if you try to approach it, you would have to capture it with a net or tranquilizer, it would take too long. Its whole habitat probably got flooded.

I went to Google satellite and looked at the Terrain View. this area is a flood plain. Nothing extraordinary here.
