Hey guys, just want to send a sincere thanks. I fully expected this board to blow up with shit-talking by Lakers fans yesterday, and it's nice to see respect on both sides. A loss like this hurts bad enough. So props to all of you Laker fans who are at least waiting a few moments before bringing down the hammer. Of course, this post does not apply to Koolaid Man.

I really think there was a few times in this series that they actually thought they were going to lose. They came into this series VERY overconfident that this would be a cakewalk. You could almost hear a collective sigh of relief from Laker nation last night. lol Now had that been Orlando I have no doubt they would had swept them, or at the very least beat them in 5.

I had some serious consternation after Games 4 & 5. Media fed that consternation to us over the course of 72 hours between 4 & 6 in hopes of breaking the Lakers, getting them to walk away from the fight, to resign themselves to defeat. It's how they beat us prior to '85 time-&-time again, how they'd ruined West & Wilt, made Kareem & Worthy kneel. This time it did not work. Magic had broken the spell in '85, and it could not be recast.

Magic's touch was all over this Final's conquest. He'll always be our father. Our bridge between what was our reality, and what continues to be our deliverance.

He crawled out of the corner of '84, and he's never returned there, HIV beckoning him without conscience from it's blackness.

:tu Same here.

Ln, much respect to you man. Hopefully when your son gets a little older the Celts will be contending so that he can enjoy his Daddy's love for his team.
There is nothing like that bond between father and son when it comes to sports.

Yup, I included every main Laker fan on this board save Koolaid. Even Luva showed surprising restraint, which is appreciated.

As a man who watched his favorite team take a double-digit lead in the third quarter of a Game seven on the road in the NBA Finals, and lose after the other team looked like they were running downhill, I feel for you this morning. It doesn't get better with time. If the Celtics do what the '05 Pistons did and never make it back to this stage with that group, you will feel pain. We lost our game five, but won the game six. That's about the only difference. You will be cursing their play in Game six and look at that fifth foul on Rasheed Wallace (it was Antonio McDyess going to the bench with foul trouble after his huuuuge plays in the same situation) in Game 7 and wonder "what if?"

You sniffed the title. You could taste the champagne in your mouth. You thought about it, you wondered, you got ahead of yourself--didn't you? And this other team wouldn't go away. They had won games like that before. This was the first time they really lost like that--the other team out-competing them. It was a classic series and you lost the classic. They were good enough to win an NBA Championship. They didn't. It is infuriating. Hopefully, the Celtics do not win 70 games next season and flame out in the Conference Finals as the 2006 Pistons did. Painful.

But, the opponent was just too good. I respect that Spurs team and I didn't before that series. I didn't love them. They earned it in those seven games. Because they competed, they were gentlemen, they were effective, admirable even, and they left me no room to hate them. Not a shove. Not a missed opportunity they didn't overcome. Nothing to hate or say conclusively they were better than my team or worse. I had to respect them. And this is why I am at Spurstalk and why I cheered for them in the 2006, 2007, and 2008 playoffs.

Fuck you dude....Let me make this loud and clear I don't give a shit about you or what you stand for...Military Service or not. If all Military Service was honored equally in this country then DADT wouldn't exist and the Bible Belt states clan wouldn't have their panties in a bunch over Homo's that fight side by side with them. See I'm much smarter than you and I cannot be manipulated with this sympathy card BS you're trying to pull. I see all through this bullshit ass post of yours... and unlike some of my fellow Laker fans I have foresight into the mad shit you would have been talking had we lost last night. You're Ho Ass won't get ANY I repeat ANY sympathy from me. Now you and your Boston Celtics can rot in hades...

and don't think I forgot the Celtics rolled out that fake ass title banner at the beginning of the season because it was a forgone conclusion that they'd win it all...:lmao

How's that for class...:toast

Kool ain't my cup a tea.

Kool is dead on here. And I'll tell you another thing, Magic Johnson learned the lessons that Kool speaks to here, learned those lessons in the Summer of '84 and took that education and absolved us all a year later. The kids here don't know the true origins of these lessons, thank Christ.

Magic was willing to go to places that West and Wilt, Worthy and Kareem had not, would not, could not. Places that Kool, like Magic is willing to go to. And to where Cubby and Kool's other Lakers Bros. are not. No Laker before Magic had learned those lessons, and no Laker before had the resolve that Magic had, or, Kool displays above. Kool's "we" is just as accurate as each of his Lakers Brothers have been in their insistence on their right to "we" the last 48 hours. Our "we" though is the gentle "we"---the Laker way. Magic made it so for us. Without Magic's willingness, his insistence to do the blood work as Kool demands here, we'd still be in the dark ages with Jerry West, wringing his hands, walking the floors incessantly---mumbling "why me, why us?" in a goddamn mantra, a mantra all too familiar to this Laker Brother.

It's uncomfortable finding Kool here this morning with these words, the condemnation of Ln, and his indictment of our (his Lakers Brothers) weaknesses. Will I now forsake the rocking chair, align shoulder-to-shoulder with Kool and get to the blood work?

No, I won't. I'm not Magic Johnson. And I'm not Kool.

I appreciate the compliment Cubby and consider it a badge of honor...this LNG guy is a classic bait and switcher...Now he want's honor, class, and restraint....it's like a bully finally meeting his match and then asking for mercy....and my fellow Laker fans fell head first into the manhole covered with roses that this guy carefully crafted for them. How sad... At least you can see through all of the LNG bullshit...he would have been so far up their asses with insults till it ain't funny...

SPECIAL SALUTATION TO LNGRRR:

I said it before and I'll say it again just because someone serves in the Military doesn't mean they should automatically get a pass. They don't give it gays, they recruit poor blacks by driving fancy cars to the hood and enticing then with false hopes of material wealth, they hide their Sons from the battle by giving them deferments and non combat assignments, LNG. How many black or Mexican generals do you know... better yet how many do you report to...Let me answer ZERO...Illegals can fight in our wars but they can't live in the country...(yes I've fact checked that one already so save your breath)...they've spent the last 100 years demonizing the wrong race - blacks... while in the bed with the Arabs and now they wake up to find the Arabs have come back to bite them square in the fucking ass.

There's a rapper named Bushwick Bill (The Ghetto Boys) he rapped once " They puttin Niggas on the front line but when it comes to getting ahead they put us way behind." So fuck off dude my mind ain't changing bout you or your KKK breatheren, I don't give a shit where you serve. :toast

Good series.

That it was.

It didn't get any better than that regardless of the foul controversy.

Hope people enjoyed it. Gonna be a long time before we are treated to another Lakers vs. Celtics series much less to a game 7.

After the Game 2 loss, the series got very tense.

Down 13 in the 3rd quarter of Game 7, I admit to having some doubts.

So relief and utter joy were my emotions, it is one thing to win a title....quite another to win a title by beating Boston.

The Celtics (and their refs) put up a very tough fight.
