I looked for a thread on this, and couldn't find one, so did anyone else catch Jim Rome today? It was on my office's lobby T.V. set and I noticed he was defending Bruce, and he really called Ray Allen out. I think it's probably because Bruce has been on Rome's show so many times, but i think it's good to hear Jim bashing some one else!!!

I've heard Bruce on with Rome many times and I can clearly see why Rome would side with Bruce.

I heard it on the radio while driving today. He set it up as one of the more compelling matchups in the playoffs, thusfar. He reset Ray's claims that Bruce is a dirty player, sissy basketball, etc. Rome then said (paraphrased), "you're wrong, Ray. Bruce is not a dirty player. He's a guy who knocked around in the CBA, in Europe, then fashioned himself into a top defensive player who is tough and plays straight-up mad D."

Jim Rome runs a tight ship.
He keeps a straight head, and doesn't hesitate to make someone look like a chode.

Heard his take. Very good props to Bowen.

You have to love the ongoing brawl between Ray Allen and Bruce Bowen. Allen has gone from being boys with Bowen to wanting to fight him. Ray’s accused him of everything from not playing basketball to playing sissy basketball, to being the dirty player everyone in the league hates.
Allen is smooth but wrong about this. There’s a difference between being dirty and being tough. Bowen’s not cheap, he’s hard nosed. The guy fought his way out of the CBA and bounced around overseas; grinding it out until he finally got an opportunity and now he’s making the most of it. There isn’t a team in the NBA that wouldn’t want this guy and just because Allen doesn’t get good looks when Bowen’s covering him, doesn’t mean he’s dirty.

I specially like Rome for his remarks on Robinson's softness calling him "the little mermaid"

I especialy liked it when Rome called Kobe a dumb ass narcisist.... oh wait, that wasn't Jim Rome that was just everyone in general.

I do agree with LakerGod in that sense. I love the Spurs, always have. But, Jim Rome does make up some pretty funny names, and says some funny stuff. You just have to be able to laugh about it, even if he's ripping on your favorite player. Overall, I think he usually hits things right on. I still get a kick out of that Patrick Ewing "We make alot of money but we spend alot of money too." Think P wants that statement back?

Bruce could shoot the president and Rome would defend him. There boys.
Not that i disagree with him but you've got to lump everything spurs related he says along with Kerr.
The radio show is where its at, the TV show is just recapped stuff on the week on the radio.

In a way.. Romy's trashing of 50 as "mermaid" I think helped Dave get more aggressive and win in 99'. After they won he did kinda poke fun at the Asterisk thing a bit. But on both sides. Later when Big D stepped down Rome gave 50 props. At least I think that's what I remember.

I'm not sure, but I think the term "mermaid" had nothing to do with basketball. I don't think Robinson was more aggressive in '99 due to Jim Rome. I'd be more likely to credit Mario Ellie, AJ and Duncan for that. :)
