I wasn't planning on going this year since I got serious sunburn. But some people really wanted me to go with them. I'll be at the Staples this time. If anyone wants to say hi to me and post a picture of us on Spurstalk, be my guest. I'll be the bald Mexican in the crowd.

Worth going to? I don't know if this year will be so because there is no rally at the Coliseum or at the Staples Center. Last year, it was way hot and there was plenty of hot chiks especially the ones who flashed at the Coliseum. I, unfortunately, won't be able to go unless I decide late tonight to change my mind. Have fun out there, IM.

OK IMex, that's really going to narrow it down ......:lol
take the metro rail. I highly recommend it. If you can either catch the blue line, green line or red line, use it because if it was anything like last year, traffic is going to be a bitch and you don't wanna risk dumb ass Laker fan flipping ya shit over or smashing ya windows .......

They can be a lot better ...... I've been to all the ones in the 80s. Those were held at city hall and the Forum with a parade going through downtown. Also the same for Los Doyers (Parade downtown).
Now that I'm old, I just catch the shit on TV but the atmosphere is pretty cool. Just hot as hell and if you're going, make sure you piss before you leave and try not to bring any kids.

I was gonna roll but I have to meet up with some clients today. Oh well, gotta hustle in this economy. I tivo'd that shit though so Ill watch it later. Last years was sick though because they had a huge rally at the coliseum & this year they're only doing a parade so you only see the players for like 5 seconds. Dont think its gonna be as good. LOL Iron,75% of the ppl there will look like you hahaha.

Lakers' Parade Route Offers High Times: Marijuana Lollipops For Sale (http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/06/21/lakers-parade-route-offers-high-times-marijuana-lollipops-for/)
By FanHouse Newswire
California, a trendsetter for years in the field of medicinal marijuana, appears to have broken new ground again at the Los Angeles Lakers' victory parade on Monday.
A truck from a mobile pot dispensary sold marijuana lollipops along the parade route, the Los Angeles Times reported (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/06/marijuana-lollipops-for-sale-on-lakers-parade-route.html). The orange and blue lollipops were sold in several varieties, including OG Kush and Grand Daddy Perp.
There's a catch: You have to have a valid prescription. Of course, getting one in California isn't too difficult (http://www.ehow.com/how_2117436_prescription-medical-marijuana-california.html) as long as you have the cash.
The owner of the truck, Bilal Muhammad, told the Times that his dispensary in West Hollywood was shut down, so he decided to go mobile. The link for the site listed on the side of the truck, weedworldcandies.com, appears not to be functioning as of Monday.
"It's been working out very well," Muhammad said of business before driving away as police became visible in the distance.
But Muhammad wasn't the only way to get access to medical marijuana. There are more than a dozen pot dispensaries (http://legalmarijuanadispensary.com/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=118&url=cannabis-clubs_c114_m117) within a mile of the parade route (http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/2010_championship_parade_info.html).
Thousands officers from Los Angeles Police Department. L.A. County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol took to the two-mile route on Monday in an attempt to thwart the vandalism that plagued the aftermath of Thursday's Game 7 victory over the Boston Celtics.
"We prepare for every eventuality," LAPD Capt. Phil Fontanetta told the Times.
People began to mark out their spots Sunday night in preparation of the parade that began at the Staples Center and concludes at at C. Organizers expect as many as two million people to line the route.

In addition to the sales of Lakers paraphernalia and water, some surprising entrepreneurs took to the parade route to sell their wares.
Among them was a mobile truck, Weed World Candies.com, selling marijuana lollipops in hues of orange and blue. (The truck itself is green with a photo mural of young women in bikinis sorting marijuana leaves.)
The assortment included brands of marijuana such as OG Kush and Grand Daddy Perp. The truck’s owner, Bilal Muhammad, said he was recently forced to shut down his store in West Hollywood and had taken his business on the road.
Customers approaching his truck were asked if they had a prescription card allowing them to purchase marijuana and then were handed a free lollipop.
“It’s been working out very well,” he said of business before driving away as police became visible in the distance.
So far, Muhammad was able to work without interruption from police.

LOS ANGELES -- Thousands of fans cheered the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=lal) during a victory parade Monday that players promised to repeat next year with a third consecutive title.
Police reported a largely well-behaved crowd. Nine people were arrested for various minor offenses and two children were reported missing, police said. Authorities did not provide a crowd estimate.

Kobe Bryant (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=110), Pau Gasol (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=996), Derek Fisher (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=246), Andrew Bynum (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2748) and Ron Artest (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=25) waved to the throngs from a flatbed 18-wheeler as fans yelled and snapped pictures. Many people along the two-mile route waited hours for a glimpse of their heroes as they rolled past in a convoy that also included double-decker buses and fire engines.
"We saw them for three minutes, but it was worth every minute," said Trisha Siqueiros, 29, who drove two hours from Indio with her father, Ron Nieto, 51, for the parade. "The only thing is they should have driven a little slower."
The hour-long parade capped a season that ended with an 83-79 Game 7 victory over theBoston Celtics (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=bos) on Thursday and a 16th NBA title for the Lakers.
Team members vowed to play hard for a 17th championship next season.
"When next season starts, we'll be ready, that's for sure," Bryant told reporters. He added that of his five titles, "this is the best one by far because it was the hardest one to get."
Artest, who donned a top hat with purple and gold feathers and sported an unlit cigar during the ride, also said the team plans to buckle down. "We have to party for another week, then start putting in the work and write history again next year," he said.
The parade, which took the Lakers from Staples Center downtown to the Galen Center at the University of Southern California, started with the purple-spangled-clad Laker Girls, who received choruses of wolf-whistles.
The tribute also included past Lakers greats Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The crowd screamed "Ma-gic! Ma-gic!" when they spotted the player-turned businessman.

Missing from the parade was coach Phil Jackson, who had to attend previously scheduled medical checkups, said team spokesman John Black. Jackson has said his health will determine whether he will return as coach.
"This is the highest priority for him and for us in determining whether he's going to come back and coach for us again next year," Black said.
Artest said he wished Jackson could have been there. "He's my favorite coach of all time," Artest said. "I enjoyed it for him."
Die-hard fans wore all manner of Lakers attire and colors, from sneakers to purses to Mexican-style ponchos. Some waved huge flags and held up signs, like a foam tombstone reading "RIP Boston" and "Back to back without Shaq."
Many fans took a day off work to pay tribute to their team.
Window washer Jimmy Baskom, 58, said he forewent the day's pay to drive in from Palmdale because he wanted to see his longtime basketball heroes up close after watching every game this season on TV.
"I've been a die-hard fan all my life and I watch every game but this is my first opportunity to see them in person," he said.

Electrician Orie Stewart of Los Angeles said he took a day off to bring his 14-year-old granddaughter to the event. "We've been longtime fans," he said. "I'm raising my grandchildren to be Lakers fans."
The police presence was heavy around the parade route with helicopters overhead and officers on foot, horseback, motorcycle and in cars to deter would-be vandals. After last Thursday's game, people started fires, rocked cars, smashed windows and threw objects at fans and officers. At least 42 people were arrested.
The Los Angeles city attorney's office said Monday that 10 people will be prosecuted on misdemeanor charges including inciting a riot, unlawful assembly after being told to disperse, throwing flammable objects and assault.
In one case, a man was accused of setting fire to a Celtics jersey, said senior assistant city attorney Chuck Goldenberg. Another man was arrested for throwing a bicycle at a police officer and other charges resulted from people throwing rocks at police and other offenses.
Cabbie Abraham Teferi, whose taxi was attacked and burned by the mob, was given a $10,000 check by Staples Center owner AEG.
AEG president and CEO Tim Leiweke said the taxi was covered by the cab company's insurance so AEG decided to cover the personal expenses of Teferi, 41, an Ethiopian immigrant who has been in the United States for nine years.
"This isn't about a car, this is about a life," Leiweke said.
Fans left no doubt they were looking for a third title next year. "I'm just as excited this year because it's the second time in a row," said Culburn Castleberry, 57, of Maryvale, Arizona, a nuclear physicist and brother to Lakers Board at Spurs Talk owner Kori Ellis: "I'm looking forward to a three-peat. And I'll be here next year with my uncle Luva and my aunt Lefty,,,,Hi, Katie-girl, plus O & 42!"
